Celebrate 5 Guilds of Ravnica with these limited print run Prerelease Packs!

The Selesnya Conclave is a guild from city-world of Ravnica. This Green / White guild has been featured in:

  • Guilds of Ravnica (2018 - this set!)
  • Return to Ravnica (2013)
  • Ravnica: City of Guilds (2005)

The Selesnya guild sees itself as the voice of Mat’Selesnya, a mysterious consciousness they believe to be the manifestation of nature itself. All within the guild are considered mouthpieces of that singular voice, and they seek to expand their guild by evangelizing their message and adding members. The Selesnya message is personal as well as public: individuals must silence their own consciousness in order to hear the will of their guildmaster, a three-headed dryad who is the spiritual transmitter of Mat’Selesnya.

The guild’s goal is to subsume the identities of individual members, transforming them into instruments of the Conclave. Selesnya has an immense reach. The guild is spread across Ravnica. Each settlement, called a vernadi, is a small commune built around a central tree and led by a dryad leader. The vernadi expand outward from Vitu-Ghazi, and all are connected through an underground network of roots.

An epic naval history decades in the making
Format: Hardcover
Excellent ending to Dr. Rodger's three book series "A Naval History of Britain", with the same level of detail and interesting presentation of facts I have come to expect from reading other of his works over the years. For anyone interested in a comprehensive naval history of Britain (from which the US Navy inherited much of its tradition), I would highly recommend this series. In addition, "The Wooden World: An Anatomy of the Georgian Navy" is also quite a good read. My (incomplete, sadly) collection of Dr. Rodger's works will continue to hold a special place on my naval history shelf for easy reference in the future. I also hope Dr. Rodger's health has improved. The shipper unfortunately did not pack this book well, resulting in minor damage (mostly cosmetic - book is still entirely readable).

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments
Format: Hardcover
The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

Great Book with a different perspective
Format: Hardcover
This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
