Aglaonema 'White Joy'

Large white to pale cream leaf sections framed by green give Aglaonema 'White Joy' its high-contrast look. The plant grows as a compact upright clump, with new leaves emerging from the centre and older leaves forming a rounded base around the pot.

The leaves are smooth, slightly glossy and oval with pointed tips. Broad pale central sections create strong contrast, while the green margins and midrib detail keep each blade clearly defined.

Leaf and growth traits

  • Compact Aglaonema cultivar with broad pale-centred leaves
  • White to cream blade areas with green margins and midrib detail
  • Short-stemmed clumping growth that fills the pot from the crown
  • Rounded indoor habit suited to tabletops and plant stands
  • Warm filtered light lowers the risk of brown or bleached patches on the white and cream leaf areas

Pale crown habit

Aglaonema 'White Joy' grows as a short-stemmed clump, with fresh leaves rising upright from the centre before settling outward as they mature. As new leaves spread outward, the plant becomes wider and rounder.

The genus Aglaonema belongs to Araceae and is native from north-eastern India to Papua New Guinea. In this cultivar, the broad pale sections need filtered light rather than harsh direct sun, as white and cream leaf areas show damage quickly.

Aglaonema 'White Joy' care guide

  • Light: Give bright indirect light. Direct sun through glass can mark the pale leaf surface.
  • Watering: Water when the top 3–5 cm of mix is dry and the pot feels lighter. During active growth, water before the whole root ball dries hard, then let the pot drain fully.
  • Substrate: Use a porous mix with coco coir, bark chips, perlite and a small amount of composted organic matter.
  • Pot choice: Grow in a drainage pot inside a cover pot and remove standing water after each watering.
  • Temperature: Keep above 18 °C. Cold damage can appear quickly on the pale sections.
  • Humidity: Moderate room humidity is suitable. A humidifier raises humidity in dry heated rooms where leaf edges crisp easily.
  • Feeding: Apply weak fertiliser once a month during active growth, then flush the substrate occasionally to reduce salt build-up.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots fill the pot, moving up by one size to keep moisture levels controlled.
  • Leaf care: Clean leaves with a soft, barely damp cloth so dust and mineral spots do not dull the pale surface.
  • Propagation: Divide rooted side growth from mature plants while the plant is warm and actively rooting.

Foliage condition notes

  • Brown edges on pale tissue: Check fertiliser strength, dry air and repeated drying of the whole root ball.
  • Soft yellowing leaves: Check whether the lower potting mix is staying wet between waterings.
  • Clear bleached patches: Move the plant back from strong sun and check for hot glass exposure.
  • Weak, stretched growth: Increase filtered light and rotate the pot every few weeks.

Placement around pets and children

Aglaonema 'White Joy' contains irritating calcium oxalate crystals. Eaten leaves or stems can cause mouth irritation, drooling and swallowing discomfort. Give the plant a position beyond the reach of pets and small children, and wash hands after pruning or dividing.

Aglaonema 'White Joy' looks clearest in bright filtered light, where the pale leaf centres stay visible without direct sun hitting the foliage.

The only chew toy that has actualy held up...for well over 2 years!
Size: Medium, Style: 4 Pack, Size: Medium, Style: 4 Pack
These things are amazing! They last forever even with dogs that can destroy nearly everything else in mins! I ordered these as a doggie Xmas gift over TWO YEARS AGO, and they are still pretty much fully intact! They chew on them all the time, too!(see pics; that's over two years of steady use!) I only got the one 4 pack, and have 4 dogs, too! Since making them so well does kind of reduce my ability to buy many more from them, I feel I should at least let people know they really are crazy durable and dogs love them! I will prob buy another 4 pack soon, just so they are easier to find(end up under couches, etc). Def a good buy!!!!

Built for heavy chewers and actually holds up
Size: Medium, Style: Fishbone/Wishbone
This chew toy is a total win for heavy chewers and has held up really well compared to so many others we’ve tried. It keeps dogs busy for long stretches and they stay genuinely interested in it instead of destroying it in minutes. The shape makes it easy for them to grip and chew comfortably, which adds to how much they use it. The durability is the real standout here, making it one of those rare toys that actually earns a repurchase. The material feels sturdy, it’s easy to clean, and there’s no noticeable odor, which is always a plus.

Definitely recommend
Size: Large, Style: 4 Pack
My dogs absolutely love these! I bought them at a great price! They have lasted my dogs over a year! I have a full pitbull, pit/lab, pit/boxer, and a pit/mastiff. So needless to say they pass the power jaw test. They look just like the pictures and they are pretty light weight!

Benebone is fantastic for heavy chewers and busy, adolescent pups!
Size: Medium, Style: 4 Pack
This little multi-pack is cost-effective in a few ways, super durable and effective, and I'll definitely be purchasing the multi-pack again. We discovered these about a year ago and have been buying them ever since. I'm just now getting around to reviewing them because they're that good, plus I love that the company is family-owned. Four "bones" lasts a little over a month for a power chewer, which is a bargain! You get 4 medium size "bones" for the retail price of 2. These smell delicious to dogs but humans can detect the odor, which is so nice. They are incredibly durable, but somehow also not too hard for a power chewer, and they keep pup from chewing on books and other items that we don't wanted chewed to bits. Heavy chewers (and their people!) love these and the variety of shapes means we can swap them out in rotation and keep pup's interest going for a few weeks. Wait until your pup has all of their adult teeth, as they are a little too hard for teething. And for super power chewers, watch out for the fish shaped chew, as this one seems to allow larger pieces to be chewed off the fish head "corners" more easily due to the relative thinness of the shape at that point when compared to the other 3 shapes. Keep an eye on how much your power chewer is taking off of these "bones" (little tiny pieces do get chewed off) and toss them (or recycle with Benebone!) when your dog is able to chew off more than a crumb size piece. Hooray for Benebone! Hooray for family-owned businesses! We'll be back for more!

Seems Very Durable So Far
Size: Small, Style: 4 Pack
My dogs are really enjoying these chew toys! These keep them busy for hours!! So far they seem very durable and my little dogs can really chew and destroy so I’m happy about these so far! They rarely each chew a toy at the same time, but choose to take turns instead. But now they each have a chew toy and they are happy campers!!
