Azaleas like light, but not heat. A cool spot — perhaps in the stairwell, in a bright bedroom, or by a window away from direct midday sun — suits them best. They do not feel comfortable in dry, overheated air.

With watering, the rule is: keep evenly moist, but never standing in water. Once a week we briefly dip the root ball into room-temperature water, let it drain, and then place it back. That way the Azalea gets everything it needs.
