Florist's Cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum)

Florist's Cyclamen brings crisp winter color indoors when most plants are taking a break. Heart-shaped, often silver-marbled leaves stay compact and tidy, while bright blooms rise just above the foliage for a clean, finished look. It performs best in cool rooms with bright, indirect light, making it a strong choice for windowsills and entry tables. With steady moisture during active growth and a lighter hand during summer rest, it can rebloom season after season.

Distinctive Features

This tuberous plant produces upswept, butterfly-like flowers in shades that commonly include white, pink, red, magenta, and lavender, typically from early winter into spring. The foliage is a major feature, with rounded, heart-shaped leaves that often show attractive silver patterning. It naturally goes dormant in late spring to summer, which is normal and helps the plant reset for the next bloom cycle.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Bright, indirect light indoors, with gentle morning sun acceptable and harsh direct sun avoided.
  • Soil: Light, organically rich, well-drained potting mix in a container with drainage holes.
  • Water: Keep evenly moist during growth and flowering, then reduce watering after bloom as the plant enters dormancy.
  • Temperature: Cool conditions are best, ideally about 55 to 65 F, and avoid hot, dry air and drafts.
  • Zones: USDA Zones 9 to 11 outdoors, typically grown as a houseplant elsewhere.
  • Mature Size: About 6 to 9 inches tall and 6 to 9 inches wide.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Use Florist's Cyclamen as a focal point on a bright table or windowsill to create a clean winter color moment indoors.
  • Winter Houseplant Color: Add to indoor displays for reliable bloom when outdoor gardens are dormant.
  • Cool Sunrooms: Place in cooler, bright spaces where flowers last longer and foliage stays fresh.
  • Gift Plant: Share as a seasonal flowering plant that feels special and stays compact.
  • Indoor Groupings: Cluster with other cool-season houseplants for layered texture and repeated winter bloom.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering Method: Water at the soil level or from the bottom, and avoid wetting the crown to reduce rot risk.
  • Deadheading: Remove spent flowers and yellowing leaves to keep the plant tidy and encourage continued bloom.
  • After Bloom: Reduce watering as leaves begin to fade, allowing the plant to rest through dormancy.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth with a low-nitrogen fertilizer, then stop during dormancy.
  • Summer Rest: Keep the pot on the dry side during dormancy, then resume watering when new growth appears.

Why Choose Florist's Cyclamen?

  • Winter Bloom Power: Delivers strong color indoors from early winter into spring.
  • Decorative Foliage: Silver-patterned leaves add style even when flowers pause between flushes.
  • Compact and Tidy: Stays small and polished, fitting easily on windowsills and tabletops.
  • Cool-Weather Performer: Looks best in cooler rooms where many houseplants slow down.
  • Repeat Potential: With a proper rest period, it can return and bloom again in future seasons.

Florist's Cyclamen is most rewarding when you match its natural rhythm: cool, bright conditions while it grows and flowers, then a quieter, drier rest when it is done. Set it where you can enjoy the blooms up close and keep the soil evenly moist without soaking the crown. With that simple routine, it becomes a dependable winter centerpiece that makes indoor spaces feel alive.

Best disco ball!
Had the old version of these balls that had batteries you actually replaced. This one is much better because you plug it in. My dog always loved this ball, because it's soft enough that she can take it in her mouth. And I love the color change. I got one for my daughter and her dog too, because I knew he loved them too.

Issues still persist even with the new rechargable version.
Nite Ize just can't get this figured out. This ball is by far my dogs favorite ball. We play ball daily, and when we don't get in a ball session during the day, we pull one of these out after dark. The problem persists even on the new rechargeable design. They just don't last. With the old battery operated version we just knew we would spend the 25 or so dollars each month to purchase a new one as the light mechanism would fail. When they updated to the rechargeable version I was ecstatic to try it. I bought one and it lasted an entire month before we lost it over a fence. I purchased a replacement thinking that Nite Ize finally figured out the design. I was wrong, this one lasted for about 6 or 7 evenings of ball fetching and stopped working. Just a disappointment that they can't get this issue solved.

Doggy and Daddy like the pretty lights
My dog loves this ball! So do his friends. He's not much of a ball guy during the day, but loses his mind with this ball. And I like it because the pretty changy colors agree with my edibles. Very durable and the charge seems to last at least five hours.

My dog loves them
Love them but wish they were a bit more durable. The bounce high, fit the thrower and they don’t weight too much. A little steep on price but the dog loves them
