  Its most notable feature is its tall, silvery-gray, thick trunk that is densely covered with sharp, triple-grouped spines. This cigar-shaped, succulent stem is topped with a rosette of long, narrow, glossy green leaves, giving it a unique, tropical palm-tree silhouette.
