It is substantial without being too hard, soft enough to be comfortable without being too soft, absolutely no lumps! The outside cover is removable to allow for machine washing and is so soft to the touch. There is a handle on the back that makes it easy to move. The best way to describe the super comfy reading pillow is super comfy. I use it to sit up while watching something soothing to my mind on tv and due to its comfyness and softness, it's perfectly just right for my back.
