Very fragrant and wonderfully low maintenance, Lavandula x intermedia ‘Grosso’ is the classic lavandin grown for its deep color, strong perfume, and excellent oil quality. This French hybrid lavender produces long stems of dark purple flower spikes above aromatic silver-green foliage, bringing structure, scent, and pollinator activity to sunny gardens.

Also known as Grosso Lavender or lavandin, this perennial is a fabulous choice for herb gardens, dry borders, Mediterranean plantings, cottage gardens, pollinator beds, and fragrant hedges. Bees adore the blooms, while gardeners love the richly scented flowers for fresh bouquets, dried bundles, sachets, and garden fragrance. Its tidy, shrubby form pairs beautifully with roses, santolina, yarrow, rosemary, salvias, and ornamental grasses.

Plant Lavandula x intermedia ‘Grosso’ in full sun with sharply drained soil. Avoid heavy summer water and soggy roots for best performance. Drought tolerant once established, deer resistant, and deeply aromatic, it is a must-have lavender for fragrance lovers. Explore more scented favorites in our Lavandula collection.
