This enchanting airplant, Tillandsia streptophylla, nicknamed the "Shirley Temple plant," is famous for its playful, curling leaves that dance and spiral in response to its environment.
Key features:
- Ribbon-like leaves that curl in drier conditions
- Silvery-green color with hints of pink
- Impressive size range from 7-24 inches
- Showy pink and purple blooms
- Easy care and adaptable nature
Looking at our specimen, you'll see why it earned its playful nickname - the leaves curl and twist like ringlets in a child's hair. The plant has a rounded shape with broad, flat leaves covered in tiny silvery scales that give it a frosted appearance. When happy, it produces beautiful pink flower spikes that add an extra pop of color.
Fun fact: You can actually "style" this plant! Less water creates tighter curls, while more water helps the leaves relax and straighten. It's like having a living sculpture that changes with the seasons.
