Moneywort is an easy stem plant to grow that features small, bright green leaves and will grow quite tall if left untrimmed. It is quite hardy and does best under medium to higher lighting. Moneywort makes an excellent background plant and will give fish and fry a place to hide and feel secure. Another fun way to plant moneywort is to let it float so that the stems will grow up out of the water.

How to Plant Moneywort Aquarium Plant

      1. Remove the potted plant from plastic basket, and split the rock wool in half.
      2. Carefully remove the plant roots from the rock wool, and make sure to remove all the small, yellow fertilizer balls. Wash off any remaining debris.
      3. Use planting tweezers or your fingers to plant each stem deeply, at least 2 to 3 inches into the ground, which means the substrate may cover some of the bottom leaves.
      4. Don’t plant the stem plants all in a single bunch but rather individually with a little space between so that the roots have some room to grow.
      5. If the plant keeps popping out of the ground, try inserting the stem at an angle or wrap a plant weight at the bottom of the stem to keep them anchored. If the stems have no roots, some people will float them at the surface until they develop roots and then plant them into the substrate.

      How to Grow Moneywort

      — Moneywort care is very easy, so start by using medium lighting between 20-35 PAR to prevent "leggy" stems (where the bottom portion of the plant starts dropping leaves).
      — Why is my moneywort plant melting? This stem plant is grown out of the water at the farm. Once the plants arrive to us, we begin the process of converting them to their underwater form. The plant you receive may be half-converted and still need time to adjust to life under water. To help speed up the transition, provide plenty of light and nutrients to encourage new leaves to sprout as the old leaves melt away. Consider floating the stems at the surface until it grows more roots and can be easily planted into the substrate.
      — Why is my moneywort turning yellow or brown? If your stem plant is getting enough light, it may be a nutrient deficiency, so measure the nitrate level using a multi-test strip. Dose with Easy Green all-in-one fertilizer until the water has 20-50 ppm nitrate.
      — How to trim moneywort: If the plant is too tall or the bottom half of the stem has lost its leaves, prune off the top portion and replant it. When the stems grow above the water line, it can produce small, whitish-purple flowers.

      How to Propagate Moneywort

Stem plants can be easily propagated by trimming off the top half of the plant and replanting it in another location. The original plant will continue growing upwards from where it was cut and may even create multiple branches.

      Cute but not durable
      Color: Life's A Paw-Ty, Size: 4.75" H X 5.25" W X 2" D
Beautiful toy and super fun squeaker, my dog loved it so much, unfortunately, it didn't even last 30 minutes! My dog is not an aggressive chewer but the material is very fragile and she made a whole right away.

      Not as advertised
      Color: Life's A Paw-Ty, Size: 4.75" H X 5.25" W X 2" D
Purchased this product under the description for tough chewer. Description even showed a husky in which I have 2. Needless to say, the toy literally lasted 2 minutes before it was destroyed and was full of a fiberglass fiber. Would not recommend this toy if you have a larger dog with a stronger bite force.

      My Dog's All-Time Favorite Toy
      Color: Pink, Style: Grunt Sound
The first one of these I ever got her was at Petco on sale for $1 - best $1 ever! The reviews are right, though. The toy doesn't last forever and it's not good for aggressive chewers. In my opinion, however, that doesn't make it a bad toy. Here's why: Aggressive chewers comments: Getting my sister's French Bulldog a stuffed toy (that's shredded in 5 minutes), compared to my Pitbull who does not tear up any toys, but is a stronger chewer when it comes to bones. My pup does not tear this up at all, but my sister's dog would. My point is: Don't get your dog a soft toy if your dog ruins soft toys. Regarding the not long-lasting comments: the honking noise mechanism inside eventually pops inside the hole, rendering it honkless. Ours lasted about 6 months. It's pretty much impossible to fix unless you want to trouble yourself to fix it for 1 good honk each fix. I would, but I do also have a job to get to. My dog does still carry it around in it's noiseless state, but she doesn't play with it with the same enthusiasm. How did I resolve this? I bought her 5 😂 She's only on her second, but I decided to stock it because they were on sale for $5.10 - I don't think I will get rid of any of them. I will just let her play with them on rotation until they fall apart. Besides all that, my dog just simply loves this toy. I have never seen her so happy & playful with a toy. I can't promise this for your dog, as I can only tell you about mine. We even have a "Sheepy" song. [I have not been paid or given free Sheeps - my Sweet Pea just really loves her Sheepy]

Loud! Just Like She Likes It
Color: Hedgehog, Style: Big Squeak Hedgehog
My Great Dane loves this noisy toy. She prefers squeaky toys with loud, unusual squeakers. (I need to invest in earplugs.) She's not an agressuve chewer or rough player so this should last a long time. Like most squeaky toys she has, the squeaker wears out before the physical toy does and once the noise is gone she won't play with it any more. If others have a similar issue...check with your local animal shelter. Some (not all) will disinfect used toys for the dogs in their care.
