For my Goldendoodles and Golden Retriever, who are all large-breed goofballs with endless energy, the large size (about 7.5 inches long) is spot-on—not too big to intimidate, but substantial enough to withstand their enthusiastic chomping. We've had ours for over two months now, and while it's showing some honorable battle scars (tiny grooves from their teeth, which actually make it easier for them to grip), it's nowhere near splintering or breaking.
