About the Air Plants
Tillandsia Caput Medusae, named for its resemblance to Medusa's serpentine hair, features curling, channeled leaves that create a sculptural form. Tillandsia Harrisii presents a more compact structure with soft, fuzzy leaves covered in trichomes. Both species are native to Latin American regions and have adapted to absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves rather than roots.
Care Instructions
Position the terrarium in bright, indirect light—near a window with filtered sunlight works well. Direct sun can overheat the glass and damage the plants. For watering, mist the air plants weekly with room-temperature water, or remove them from the terrarium for a 20-30 minute soak every 1-2 weeks. After soaking, shake off excess water and allow plants to dry completely before returning them to the glass bowl. Air circulation is important to prevent rot, so ensure the terrarium opening allows adequate airflow.
Display Options
The compact 5.5" x 5" dimensions work in various settings. Place it on desks, bathroom counters, kitchen windowsills, or bookshelves. The transparent glass allows viewing from all angles, while the natural materials—river stones, moss, and cork bark—provide earthy contrast to the sculptural air plants.
