The Kiwi Dragon Tree, known as Dracaena marginata ‘Kiwi, is a striking and vibrant cultivar admired for its colorful foliage and easygoing nature, making it a favorite among indoor plant enthusiasts. Its gracefully arching leaves and dynamic color palette set it apart from other houseplants, while its ability to adapt to a range of indoor conditions adds to its widespread appeal.

This variety offers all the hardiness of the classic Dracaena marginata with an extra splash of color, making it an excellent choice for home and office décor.

Native to Madagascar, the “Kiwi” name comes from its tri-colored leaves that resemble the vibrant shades of a kiwi fruit—lime green centers, creamy yellow margins, and thin pink to red edging that intensifies with proper lighting.

The Kiwi Dragon Tree is primarily grown for its foliage, which is long, narrow, and sword-shaped, forming elegant tufts at the top of tall, slender stems.

The colorful leaf pattern creates a vivid display year-round, with the variegation appearing more pronounced in bright, indirect light.

New growth emerges from the crown, and older leaves naturally shed from the bottom, giving the plant its distinctive tree-like appearance.

When mature, the Kiwi Dragon Tree can grow up to 8 feet tall indoors, although growth is slow and controlled, especially in containers. It tends to grow upright, with the option to prune or braid stems for visual interest. In its native habitat or in ideal tropical outdoor environments, it may grow even taller, but it remains compact enough for most indoor settings.

The Kiwi Dragon Tree may produce small, white to pale pink fragrant flowers, typically followed by orange or red berries. These flowers emerge on tall stalks and can be an unexpected bonus for long-time plant owners. However, most growers value the plant for its year-round ornamental foliage rather than its blooms.

When it comes to Dracaena marginata kiwi care, use a well-draining potting mix, opens in a new tab, such as a blend made for palms or indoor tropical plants. Water deeply but infrequently, allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry between waterings, and reduce watering during winter.

Indoors, keep the temperature between 65°F and 80°F with humidity above 40%, and place it in bright, indirect light.

Outdoors, it grows well in USDA Zones 10–12, where temperatures remain above 50°F. Provide dappled sunlight or light shade to prevent leaf scorching.

Prune leggy stems or brown leaves as needed to maintain shape, and fertilize once a year during the growing season in spring with a diluted balanced houseplant fertilizer.

One of the most unique aspects of the ‘Kiwi’ cultivar is its foliage coloration, which requires just the right balance of light and care to maintain vibrancy. In low light, the variegation can fade, while in too much direct sun, the leaves may burn. Its drought tolerance, ease of pruning, and low pest issues make it a low-maintenance plant despite its colorful appearance. It is also known to filter indoor air pollutants, making it as functional as it is beautiful.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Kiwi Dragon Tree (Dracaena marginata ‘Kiwi’) offers a perfect combination of visual appeal, resilience, and versatility. Its vivid foliage makes it a standout among variegated houseplants, while its slow growth and upright form make it suitable for small spaces. Whether placed in a bright corner of a living room or a softly lit office, the Kiwi Dragon Tree adds a tropical touch and a splash of color without demanding much in return.

A Fox Amongst the Wolves
Format: Kindle
Collette has been forgotten about her whole life. Her parents don't bother with her, others don't try either once they realize she uses sign language to speak, and she's a shifter surrounded by humans that hate her kind. On her 18th birthday, she runs away. She takes the train and then bus wherever it can get her as far from home as possible. A missed bus brings her and a mysterious but kind man to Willowdale. What happens next is a story of fated mates, shifters, magic, new best friends and found family, and a stolen child. I'm sad this was a shorter read but only because of how much I loved Collette, Dylan, Hunter, Luca, Lena, and the others in their community. I love how detailed the characters are even with the shorter story. You can tell their characteristics easily, and the lead in to book two is done so well. I loved this insta love book with just the right amount of drama.

An easy PNR book to cure book hangovers.....
Format: Kindle
I enjoyed this as a short story; but nothing truly pulled me into this world to want to keep reading each story. I can sense the overarching villain arc w/ the HAF; yet it still wasn't enough to capture me long-term. It felt like too much focus was placed on progressing the romance part that everything else took a non-existent back seat. This did work well for my intentions of getting over a book-hangover slump. So there's that lol. A Tip to overcome a PNR book hangover, from a wonderful series or novel......read a trope-y, lighthearted, PNR that is easily predictable but adorable. Like this book. Honestly, I'm rarely into short stories that are turned into a ridiculous amount of books on different PNR characters. So I'm not the best at judging the merits of these stories. I'm a long-haul type of reader that lives for a series surrounding 1 lead female character & her harem (or singular partner). Occassionally, I'll find a series of short stories that are interesting enough to finish or pull me in completely. The rarity of that is countable on 1.5 hands, compared to the literal hundreds of fiction books I've read lol. With all of that, I will say this was fun because of the FMC's difficulties growing up & how that made her strong, the end reveals of her life, & the cute Epilogues. I never felt truly connected to any of the characters; but I did feel slightly compelled to just finish it to see how plot points would end. Unfortunately, due to a lack of character backstory explanations, I still don't understand Collete's "magic". Very little time was given to flesh out the backstory of the world this occurs in. I couldn't even guess what type of magic occurs in this world, aside from what little was revealed. A random scene sticks out to me...... we're introduced to a new magic type, in passing. No dialogue to expand. No hint at anything really. Then the scene moves on. That moment felt pointless to even mention, afterwards. It felt like the author was more concerned w/ romance than storyline. This is a common issue I have w/ short stories....authors write them for whatever reason; but too often it's an "either or" theme.....EITHER the author is writing ONLY for romance w/ storyline taking a minor role OR writing ONLY for storyline w/ some romance that ends up feeling forced. As I mentioned earlier, only a handful of short stories series have ever had a balance of both sides, for me, that I wanted to read all of them.

Great RH shapeshifting romance!
Format: Kindle
Oh my gosh, I adored this book! Voiceless is set in a blended reality with humans, witches, and shapeshifters of all kinds, but with a significant lack of acceptance from the humans that results in violence. And I am sucker for fated-mates/insta-connection and you get that in heaps and bounds in Voiceless! Colette’s introduction to the supernatural world added some challenges on top of not being able to effectively communicate with those around her. I enjoyed the overall plot; that there was danger and confrontation and resolution, albeit not nearly as much as I wanted. Voiceless is a short read and things escalate at a fast pace and a resolution is reached just as quickly. As a result, I think we miss out a bit on relationship and character development that we could’ve had if the book was little longer. While this is a RH/why-choose, most, if not all of the spice, is exclusively MF.

Cute
Format: Kindle
Very insta-love, but also cute with likable characters. The plot was good, though lacking in depth. The spice was fairly abrupt and lack-luster. Am enjoyable read, overall.

Another great story from this author!
Format: Kindle
I absolutely loved this book. Colette’s story was so sad yet sweet in the sense that yes she ran away from her controlling parents after hearing about arrangements being made for her. But sweet because fate was working in her favor because she ran into one of her mates on the bus. Turns out she had two more back in the town she was heading for. Dylan, Luca, & Hunter turned out to be exactly what Colette needed because the ease with which she felt comfortable around was just perfect. This was a fast burn with a pretty quick paced story as well, especially at towards the end, it all picked up pretty quickly towards the end. I absolutely loved the sweet factor & the epilogues were perfect. Amazing job!
