While it's a relative of yuccas, it actually belongs to the century plant family instead. You’ll notice its elegant, narrow, sword-like blue-green leaves growing in lovely clumps that can spread up to 6 feet wide, with individual leaves reaching lengths of 2 to 3 feet. These evergreen leaves can display a striking purple or reddish-bronze hue in colder winter climates, and each one features unique thread-like hairs along the edges.

The plant showcases tall red flower stalks, 4 to 6 feet high, with tubular red to pink flowers that rise above the foliage.
