Shimmering silver spots for a timeless jungle vibe
Scindapsus pictus 'Argyraeus' | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Not pet-safe
Summary: With heart-shaped leaves dusted in shimmering silver, this trailing beauty brings both elegance and ease to your indoor plant collection. Perfect for brightening German apartments and European homes.
✨ Why You'll Love the Scindapsus pictus 'Argyraeus'
- Charming matte green leaves patterned with silvery splashes
- Excellent trailing plant for shelves or hanging baskets
- Hardy and beginner-friendly, forgiving of minor care slips
- Improves indoor air quality while adding style
- Large plant: P15, approx. 40 cm tall — instantly lush and ready to trail
🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light to keep its silver variegation bold. Tolerates medium light, making it versatile for various rooms. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch its delicate leaves.
💧 Water & Humidity
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil has dried. 'Argyraeus' enjoys slightly higher humidity, but adapts well to standard European indoor air. For extra lush growth, mist occasionally or use a pebble tray.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Plant in a loose, well-draining mix — a blend of potting soil, perlite, and coco coir works best. Repot every 1–2 years when roots start to fill the pot.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not pet-safe. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs, as ingestion can cause irritation.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Expect steady trailing or climbing growth. For bushier plants, pinch back vines. Propagate easily by stem cuttings with at least one node — root them in water or directly in soil.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
During spring and summer, feed every 4–6 weeks with a diluted houseplant fertilizer. In autumn and winter, reduce watering and hold off on feeding as the plant slows its growth. Protect from cold drafts common in European homes during winter.
🐛 Common Issues
- Yellowing leaves → often due to overwatering
- Leggy growth → increase light levels
- Crispy edges → air is too dry; raise humidity
🧬 Botanical Background
Scindapsus pictus 'Argyraeus' comes from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, where it climbs and trails along trees. Its name “pictus” means “painted,” a perfect description of the silver-flecked foliage now loved in European homes.
