Dischidia oiantha 'White Diamond'

Dischidia oiantha 'White Diamond' is a variegated Dischidia from a Philippine epiphytic species, with small, waxy oval to elliptic green leaves edged in creamy white. Slim flexible stems give the plant a compact trailing habit for hanging pots, small mounts and grouped epiphyte displays.

The pale margins create a crisp outline on a small trailing plant. Its fine roots prefer a close-fitting container and a bark-rich mix that carries moisture and air together.

Cream-edged White Diamond foliage

  • Cream-edged foliage on Dischidia oiantha
  • Waxy oval to elliptic leaves on fine trailing or twining stems
  • Small green leaves with creamy white margins
  • Fine epiphytic roots that dry best in open, bark-based substrate
  • Trim-friendly growth for maintaining an even plant outline

Philippine epiphyte habit

The species Dischidia oiantha is native to the Philippines, where it grows as a climbing epiphyte in wet tropical habitat. 'White Diamond' keeps the species’ paired fleshy leaves, slender stems and node-rooting habit, with creamy white margins on the small green leaves.

In a pot, it develops as a tidy trailing houseplant. On cork or bark, active stems can be guided into a light mounted display when humidity stays steady and the nodes touch the surface.

Dischidia 'White Diamond' care

  • Light: Use bright indirect light. Pale leaf margins suit a softened position near a bright window or under gentle grow lighting.
  • Watering: Saturate the root ball evenly, then let the top layer dry before the next watering. Small pots change moisture level quickly.
  • Substrate: Use small-grade bark, coco chips, perlite, and a little sphagnum fibre. The mix holds light moisture while staying open.
  • Pot choice: Keep the plant in a modest pot with drainage. Upsize when roots and stems have filled the current container.
  • Humidity: Humid moving air reduces dry edges and trapped moisture around dense trailing stems.
  • Temperature: Keep the plant at 18–28 °C with even warmth after pruning, repotting, or a major position change.
  • Feeding: Use a reduced fertiliser dose while stems are extending. Flush the mix if pale margins begin to brown after feeding.
  • Pruning: Trim fully green shoots back to variegated growth to keep the pale-edged appearance consistent.

White Diamond margin checks

  • Brown white margins: Check hot light, dry spells, fertiliser residue, and humidity around new growth.
  • Soft yellow leaves: Moisture is lingering in the pot. Improve drainage, warmth, and airflow around the roots.
  • Wrinkled foliage: Check moisture level first. If the mix is damp, inspect the fine roots and refresh ageing substrate.
  • Long bare sections: Increase filtered light and trim active tips to encourage growth closer to the pot.

White Diamond stem care

Hanging pots or small mounts show Dischidia oiantha 'White Diamond' while keeping trailing stems away from pets and young children. Rinse hands after pruning or pinching stems, especially when fresh cuts are present.

White Diamond species and leaf markings

Fun toy
Pattern Name: Checkered
This was a very fun toy but didn't last too long with our 1-year-old lab who is an aggressive chewer.

Perfect for active dogs
This is a must-have if your dog loves to fetch. It throws the ball far with very little effort and keeps your hands clean—no more slobbery chuckit balls. Lightweight, durable, and makes playtime much more fun (and less tiring for me!).

Way better than the M size for us
Like most people that have dogs I first went with the M size or Tennis ball size (about 2.5") chuckit for my 65-70 lbs Lab. After having that for a while and my dogs' evolution from liking to chase the ball to wanting to catch it, I started seeing how the M size could cause some life threating problems for my pup. I was on the fence for several weeks when I came across this option that included a 3" ultra ball as well as a 3" fuzzy tennis ball like ball. These balls can fly so much farther with less effort and my furry friend seeming to like them more than the 2.5 inch. It also seems to fit their mouth better allowing them to enjoy 'the game' (you lost by the way) much more. If you have a larger dog or your dog has a big mouth, please trust me when I say skip the 2.5" M size balls. You and your dog will haves much more fun with this 3" size

Chuck it ball launcher
This is great! I have a blue healer that loves it. She will play fetch with the ball all day long. The launcher is easier on my shoulder. I can throw the ball twice as far and when she brings the ball back I can grab it with the launcher without touching a spit covered ball. Awesome buy!
