Philodendron Hederaceum Micans adds glamorous vibe to any room with foliage hues of deep green, purple, and copper that shift with light and time. Micans translates from Latin as “shiny,” referring to the subtle copper shine the young leaves of this Philodendron give off. The leaves of Philodendron Micans mature into deep-green, spade-shaped foliage that can grow up to a foot in diameter.

Given the opportunity, this plant will spread and climb energetically – like Ivy. Most indoor Philodendron Micans will maintain a more modest leaf size if not allowed to climb. You can choose to have this plant in a hanging planter or you can train it to climb up a trellis (we have a selection of trellises available).

How to root your Philodendron Micans cutting

Philodendron Micans is one of the easiest indoor plants to propagate and you can choose to root your cutting directly in soil, water or in your choice of propagation substrate such as sphagnum moss, fern fibre, leca etc.

Water propagation is the fastest and easiest way to root your Philodendron Micans cutting. Fill your glass or jar with filtered water or allow the tap water to sit out in the open for a while to let the chlorine dissipate. Submerge the lower 1-2 nodes of your pothos cutting in the water with the leaves up above. Make sure that no leaves are touching the water as this could lead to rot.

Then, place in a warm spot that receives plenty of bright, indirect light (no direct sun though) and change the water regularly until the roots are at least an inch long and your cutting is ready to be planted in soil.

Philodendron Micans Plant care

This Philodendron is easy to care for and grow indoors as a houseplant. It appreciates bright, indirect light; well-draining soil; and regular watering. While the Philodendron Micans does produce flowers in the wild, it is extremely rare for them to flower indoors and when they do, the blooms are fairly insignificant compared to their gorgeous foliage.

In optimal conditions your Philodendron Micans should be fertilised monthly during spring and summer with a fertiliser that is diluted to half the recommended strength. Fertilise sparingly during autumn and winter when Micans aren’t actively growing. This will assist in keeping your plant alive as well as promote healthy growth.

Adorable but not Durable
Color: Blue
While this toy was super adorable and our 1 year old puppy loved it. The colors were bright and vivid, and it made fun wrinkling sounds he absolutely loved. However we were lucky if it lasted 20 minutes. Within minutes the crinkle paper was coming out and it basically fell apart, and he's not a destructive pup.

NOT for aggressive chewers.
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
Bruce had the stuffing out of this thing less than 5 minutes after handing it to him. This is not for aggressive chewers. Toys from the Dollar Tree have lasted longer than this thing. And now they want to charge me a buck to return it. I'll just let him finish shredding it. Maybe what's left will keep him entertained for a couple of hours.
