Plants bloom mid-summer on sturdy stems each bearing numerous blooms. Harvest lilies for cut flowers when the buds just begin to open. Be sure to snip off the anthers extending from the center of the bloom as these can drop pollen that stains table clothes. Do not remove more than one-third of the stem when cutting as plants need energy produced by the foliage to replenish bulbs for next season. Plants tolerate heat and humidity and are drought tolerant. Provide rich, well-drained soils and plenty of sun.
