  • The 'Quito' is an epiphytic, herbaceous perennial that belongs to the Piperaceae (Pepper) family, a vast group of plants native to tropical regions. While 'Quito' is a cultivated hybrid (cultivar), the Peperomia caperata species originates from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, particularly in areas like Ecuador. The cultivar is named after Quito, the capital city of Ecuador.

The defining feature of the Peperomia 'Quito' is its striking and unique foliage. Its heart-shaped leaves are deeply ridged and crinkled (caperata means "wrinkled"), giving them a beautiful, complex texture. The leaves boast an extraordinary, shifting color palette, rich in bronze, deep rust, golden, orange, and rose-pink hues, often with a metallic sheen that varies with the light.

It is a self-heading, bushy Peperomia with a small, rounded growth habit, making it an excellent choice for desktops, shelves, and terrariums.

  • Medium to bright, indirect light is essential for maintaining the brightest leaf colors. Tolerates lower light, but colors may become duller.

Water thoroughly but infrequently. Since it stores water in its thick leaves, it is prone to overwatering and root rot. Let the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry before re-watering.

Prefers a chunky, loose, and slightly acidic mix, like one used for Aroids or succulents (potting soil blended with perlite, orchid bark, or coco coir) to prevent root rot.

It prefers temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C).

Great shoe, comfort
Size: 11.5, Color: British Tan/Ivry
Love these shoes, they're super comfy. Laces stayed tied all day. I wear them in a business casual environment, or if I'm going out for a nice meal with my wife. They look good, the color is unassuming and neutral. they also elevate my height, I feel like it gives me an inch or so more versus regular shoes. This is my second pair!
