Enhanced Growth of Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata)

Organifer Ponytail Palm Liquid Fertiliser supports the unique growth pattern of Beaucarnea recurvata, a caudiciform species native to eastern Mexico. Known as ponytail palm or elephant’s foot, this long-lived plant forms a thick, swollen base that stores water and feeds the plant during dry conditions. The 2-1-8 organic formulation promotes steady leaf development and healthy canopy formation, helping ponytail palms maintain their elegant fountain-like appearance in indoor and warm outdoor environments.

Strengthened Root and Caudex Development

A strong root system and well-developed caudex are essential for the health and longevity of ponytail palms. This liquid fertiliser supports enhanced root activity by improving substrate aeration and biological life, while amino acids stimulate root initiation and nutrient mobility. Improved root and caudex development increases the plant’s ability to store water and nutrients, supporting long-term stability and resilience in containers.

Improved Leaf Strength, Colour, and Overall Vitality

Ponytail palms are prized for their long, arching, ribbon-like leaves. Organifer Ponytail Palm Liquid Fertiliser enhances leaf firmness, gloss, and green coloration through potassium-rich feeding. Amino acids support chlorophyll development, helping the plant maintain strong photosynthetic activity even in indoor conditions. This results in healthier, more vibrant foliage with improved structural integrity.

Properties

✔ Supports vigorous growth in Ponytail Palm (Beaucarnea recurvata)

✔ Enhances caudex (swollen base) development for strong water storage

✔ Stimulates steady leaf production with long, arching, ribbon-like foliage

✔ Boosts nutrient uptake and plant vitality with amino acids

✔ Improves resilience to drought, indoor dryness, and irregular watering

✔ Strengthens root systems for stable long-term container growth

✔ Promotes firm, glossy leaves and balanced top growth

✔ Vinasse-free ponytail palm liquid fertiliser ensures clean indoor feeding

✔ Helps prevent weak leaves, poor caudex development, or slow growth

✔ Suitable for houseplants, warm patios, conservatories, and bonsai forms

✔ Supports the extremely long lifespan typical of Beaucarnea species

Enhanced Resilience to Drought and Indoor Conditions

Beaucarnea recurvata is naturally adapted to dry environments but still benefits from balanced nutrition to maintain its ornamental qualities. This liquid fertiliser improves stress tolerance by strengthening cell structure and supporting efficient internal water regulation. Enhanced resilience helps prevent leaf tip browning, slow growth, and caudex shrinkage during periods of low humidity or irregular watering common issues in indoor cultivation.

Healthier Canopy Growth and Controlled Plant Structure

The balanced nutrient profile supports the formation of strong, evenly spaced leaves and encourages a clean, controlled growth habit. Phosphorus aids steady shoot development while potassium reinforces leaf and stem strength. Amino acids enhance overall metabolic efficiency, supporting smooth, continuous growth throughout the active season and helping the plant maintain its iconic silhouette.

Suitable for Indoor Specimens, Patios, and Long-Lived Plants

This ponytail palm liquid fertiliser is ideal for houseplants, conservatories, warm patios, and mature specimens with decades-old caudex structures. The vinasse-free formulation ensures clean, salt-free feeding that supports long-term substrate health, making it highly suitable for container-grown ponytail palms. Whether grown as a sculptural indoor plant or as part of a warm-climate garden, the fertiliser supports strong, stable, and attractive growth.

Composition

2.0% Total nitrogen (N)
1.0% Total phosphorus pentoxide (P₂O₅)
8.0% Total potassium oxide (K₂O)

40% Dry matter
35% Organic matter
0.1% Magnesium oxide (MgO)
0.1% Calcium oxide (CaO)
pH: 5.5–6.0

Dosage

Number of applications: 1-3
Start: At early growth
Repeat: Every 4–6 weeks
Foliar spraying: 2–4 ml per 1 litre of water
Fertigation: 1–2 ml per 1 litre of water
Standard dose: 2–4 L per ha

Ponytail palms thrive in very well-drained, gritty soil that prevents moisture accumulation around the caudex and roots. Allow the substrate to dry thoroughly between waterings to support the natural drought-adapted growth rhythm of Beaucarnea recurvata. Provide bright, indirect light for young plants and gentle full sun for mature specimens, as older ponytail palms tolerate stronger sunlight. Adequate calcium and magnesium availability strengthens leaf structure and supports long-term trunk and caudex development. Keep nitrogen levels low to prevent weak, elongated growth that reduces the plant’s characteristic form. Reduce feeding and watering during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows, helping the plant maintain balance and avoid overhydration.

Storage

When stored under stable, frost-free conditions and protected from direct sunlight, this liquid fertiliser maintains its quality for an extended period. Closed containers preserve the formulation effectively, while any diluted solution should be used promptly to ensure optimal performance and purity.

Guided tour through a difficult work
Format: Paperback
For the non-expert reader of Plato, this is a very good text for working through Timaeus. Actually, it may be useful to expert readers as well, but I wouldn't know about that, being firmly situated in the non-expert camp. Though some scholars may take exception to certain parts of Cornford's translation and interpretation, for those of us trying to get through it for the first time and on our own, this is still an exceptional guide. By the way, for an alternative translation and interpretation, the reader may want to check out Kalkavage's translation (Focus Philosophical Library), it is very good (I would rate it 5 stars also) and has some extremely helpful appendices for understanding references to music, astronomy, and geometry.

Cornford's Plato Cosmology/Timaeus
Format: Paperback
This is an excellent and invaluable reference book for Plato's Timaeus. If you are reading Timaeus you MUST have this book. It contains line-by-line commentary, and also, most valuable, some very helpful illustrations (example: illustration of the human body as Timaeus explained it). I would, however, balance this book with other books that attempt to place Timaeus within the rest of Plato's works. I recommend, for example, Peter Kalkavage's Timaeus. There, he attempts to link Timaeus and Republic.

Plato's dialogue about the physical world
Format: Paperback
The two biggest topics in the Timaeus are astronomy and the elements of bodies, which are constructed using triangles and the tetrahedron, octahedron, icosahedron, and cube. I would like to see a translation of the Timaeus that uses it as a way to introduce all the astronomy that appears in the dialogue. Introducing the astronomy does not mean just talking in words about spheres or the zodiac or the ecliptic, but actually explaining how these were used by astronomers. Cornford has much to say, but to someone who has not learned any Greek astronomy his commentary will be opaque and hard to use. I didn't know the astronomy well enough to readily understand Cornford's explanations. I plan to learn more classical Greek astronomy, perhaps using Evans' , and then read Waterfield's translation of the Timaeus . Before reading this you should have read the Republic and know some classical Greek natural philosophy, mathematics, and astronomy. Although Cornford's commentary makes the dialogue staccato, I am glad for it because I wouldn't otherwise have understood much of what Plato says. The Timaeus and the Parmenides are the two dialogues of Plato that one needs commentary to understand; the Parmenides demands the commentary because so much of what is happening depends on the original language, and the Timaeus demands the commentary because of all the things the reader is supposed to be familiar with. The following is a list of topics I kept while reading the dialogue: theory of Forms 27d-28a, 51a-52a; harmonics 35b-36b; time 37c-38e, 39b-e; vision 45b-46c, 67c-68d; space 52b; surfaces 53c; weight 62d-63e; sound 67a-67c; physiology 70c-79e, 80d-86a; antiperistasis 79e-80c.
