About Marojejya

▼

Marojejya is a genus of palms in the Arecaceae family, native to Madagascar. It is notable for its unique and striking appearance, which makes it an attractive choice for palm enthusiasts and collectors. The genus is relatively small, comprising a few species that are distinguished by their distinctive characteristics.

Marojejya palms are typically characterized by their tall, slender trunks and elegant, pinnate leaves. The leaves are feather-like and arch gracefully, giving the plant a tropical and exotic appearance. The trunk is often smooth and ringed, adding to the ornamental value of the plant.

Exotic Madagascar Treasure: These palms are usually grown for their aesthetic appeal in tropical and subtropical gardens. Due to their native habitat, Marojejya palms are adapted to a warm, humid environment and generally require similar conditions to thrive.

Marojejya palms are elegant and visually striking plants that add a touch of the exotic to any garden. Their refined appearance and adaptability make them a valuable addition to tropical and subtropical landscapes.

Cultivation Conditions

▼

Light Requirements

Marojejya palms prefer bright, indirect light or partial shade. They can tolerate full sun in tropical climates but may need some protection from the harsh afternoon sun in hotter regions. Adequate light promotes healthy, vibrant foliage.

Temperature Preferences

These palms thrive in warm climates and are typically suited to USDA hardiness zones 10-11. They are sensitive to frost and should be protected or brought indoors if temperatures drop significantly. Optimal growing temperatures range from 22-30°C (72-86°F).

Soil Composition

Marojejya palms prefer well-draining, rich soil. A loamy or sandy soil with added organic matter is ideal. Ensure the soil is well-drained to prevent root rot. The addition of peat or coconut coir improves moisture retention without creating waterlogged conditions.

Water Management

These palms require regular watering, especially during the growing season. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. During cooler months, reduce watering frequency to prevent root problems.

Planting and Care Instructions

▼

Planting Location

Plant Marojejya palms in a location that provides bright, indirect light or partial shade. If planting in a container, use a palm or cactus potting mix with good drainage. Choose a pot with drainage holes to prevent water accumulation and ensure root health.

Fertilization Program

Fertilize the plant with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer during the growing season, typically from spring through summer. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for dosage to avoid over-fertilization. A palm-specific fertilizer with added micronutrients is recommended for optimal growth.

Maintenance and Pruning

Marojejya palms generally require minimal maintenance. Remove any dead or damaged fronds to maintain the plant's appearance and promote healthy growth. Keep an eye out for pests and diseases, such as spider mites or fungal infections, and treat them promptly with appropriate solutions.

Growing from Seeds

▼

Seed Preparation

Marojejya seeds should be soaked in warm water for 24-48 hours before sowing to help soften the seed coat and improve germination rates. Use room-temperature or slightly warm water and change it periodically to prevent fermentation and fungal growth.

Sowing Process

Sow the seeds in a well-draining seed-starting mix. Press them lightly into the soil and cover with a thin layer of soil or sand. Ensure the seed-starting mix is moist before planting and maintain consistent moisture throughout the germination period without creating waterlogged conditions.

Germination Conditions

Place the seed tray in a warm, bright location with temperatures around 25-30°C (77-86°F). Maintain consistent moisture in the soil but avoid waterlogging. Germination can take several weeks to a few months depending on seed freshness and environmental conditions. Be patient and maintain optimal conditions consistently.

Care for Seedlings

Once seedlings emerge, provide them with bright, indirect light and gradually acclimate them to more light exposure over several weeks. Transplant seedlings into individual pots or directly into the garden when they are large enough to handle and have developed several fronds.

I wanted to like this more than I did
Format: Kindle
This started off so well! I thought it was going to take Lola on a run for her money but it ended up getting weird. I liked the writing but there was just too much spice which I didn't think was possible for me. There were too many times that the writing felt weird or the situations too outlandish and unrealistic. I had to skim through a lot of the later half. It might just be the dynamic between the characters that didn't work for me so I'll give this author another go.

love love love!!
Format: Kindle
Unwanted is the perfect hurt/comfort romance read. I LOVE an OV romance where the beta is the center of the story and Song delivers a heartfelt story of a single mom to 2, burned by her alpha-hole ex starting her life over in the small town of Knotty Pines. Reid and Finn are an alpha/omega pair who’ve been together since they scent matched as teenagers, they’ve always known someone was missing in their lives and they’ll stop at nothing to prove to Cammie that her, Em & Ben are everything they always wanted. I couldn’t put this one down - Song tugs at your heart strings, and gives you vulnerable, real and lovable characters with depth and relatability. The book is so well paced, detailed to perfection without overdoing it or straying, I really honestly loved the flow and details in this story and the banter and humor had me smiling throughout this read. This was the perfect hurt/comfort, who did this to you, fated mates, stop at nothing to get the girl romance that I’ll be recommending for the foreseeable future!!

Oh this was adorable and cozy and spicy
Format: Kindle
Oh this was adorable and cozy and spicy and I had so much fun with this book! The relationship between Cammie, Finn and Reid is good. I love how doting both men are of her and her kids, always providing them with a safe space to be themselves. They were patient with Ben and I loved seeing that represented in this book. The plot was done well and it was well paced with quiet, family moments as well as drama to keep us on our toes. I do wish we'd gotten more moments just between Finn and Reid to showcase their strong relationship (they've been together for two decades!) and while we got something, both men were first and foremost focused on Cammie. It makes sense why this was, there was a lot of hurt that needed to be soothed and I'm glad she is treated like the queen she is, but I did yearn for more of the alpha-omega couple.

A Beta’s Dream!
Format: Kindle
I loved this book!! Unwanted follows Cammie, a single mom and Beta, working two jobs, trying her best to raise a son and daughter since her a$$hole ex Alpha kicked them out after meeting his scent match. Being a Beta from the wrong side of the tracks, Cammie is often the victim of rumors and blatant disrespect from several alphas in town; and while in a panic searching for her daughter who somehow managed to wander outside of the home, she finds herself in a panic when she comes across a police officer. Rather than help her, Cammie finds herself feeling threatened and helpless against the alpha’s behavior. That’s when Reid, one of her Alpha neighbors (and super hot firefighter) swoops in to her rescue. Sparks fly, but Cammie thinks nothing of it since she is so used to being disregarded. Little does she know, Reid goes home to his Omega, the adorable and caring Finn, and confesses that he thinks he’s met their match. What follows is a beautiful hurt/comfort romance, with lots of steam, and found family perfection! Reid and Finn worship Cammie and absolutely adore her kids. They’ll do anything to protect them and cherish them, to erase all the hurt and rejection that their bio dad put them through. It’s such a heart warming and emotional story—perfect for when you’re feeling like something low angst with princess treatment for not just Cammie, but her kids as well. I definitely recommend picking this one up!!

Emotional read with children
Format: Kindle
Cammie is a single mother of two children whose ex-boyfriend, who is an alpha that he met his scent matched omega and dumped her via messenger on his phone then the next day put their house up for sale. Cammie moves back to her hometown, but because she has no support, is working two jobs to keep her and the children in a small rented house. One night her four year gets out of the house and she meets a neighbour, but she refuses to make the same mistake again by getting involved with another alpha, but Reid is convinced they are scent matched mates even though Cammie is a beta. Reid and his omega Fin start to court Cammie and her two children that they belong together as a pack and family. Cammie's ten year old son is a tough one to convince, but the scenes between him and Reid and Fin, they were so good. I was tearing up at times, found family was a big theme and I really liked this book. I highly recommend that you try it too.
