Frequently Asked Questions
How large do the leaves actually get? ▼
Calathea orbifolia leaves can reach 8-12 inches wide and equally tall, making them some of the largest in the prayer plant family. With proper care and adequate space, mature plants can develop truly spectacular oversized leaves that create dramatic impact.
Do the large leaves still perform the prayer movement? ▼
Yes! Despite their impressive size, the leaves still fold upward each evening in the characteristic prayer plant movement. The large scale actually makes this daily ritual even more dramatic and noticeable than smaller prayer plants.
Is this variety more difficult than other Calatheas? ▼
Orbifolia is actually considered one of the more forgiving Calatheas! While it appreciates high humidity like all prayer plants, its larger leaves are somewhat more tolerant of varying conditions, making it a good choice for intermediate tropical plant parents.
