Introducing the stunning Creeping inch plant, known as Callisia repens Gold, which is a miniature trailing plant that adds a touch of vibrant gold hues to any indoor or outdoor space. Belonging to the Bolivian Wandering Jew family, this variety of Callisia repens is also known as bolivian jew or turtle vine.

Native to South and Central America, the creeping inch plant is a popular choice for hanging baskets, terrariums, or ground cover in gardens.

The Callisia repens turtle vine has other varieties like the Pink Lady (Callisia repens variegated) and Pink Panther (Tradescantia Callisia repens), which are known for their beautiful pink foliage and trailing growth habit.

This creeping inch plant Callisia repens is characterized by its bright golden-yellow foliage, which stands out beautifully against its trailing stems.

The stunning golden oval-shaped leaves contrasted with a pink or purple underside are a true show-stopper. It contrasts well with its purple stems.

Callisia repens planthas a typical bushy growth with trailing habit. It is a miniature plant that grows between 4 to 12 inches tall.

The flowers of the creeping inch plant bloom during summer and fall with small white flowers. These flowers add a delicate touch to the creeping plant's overall appearance. So, along with its vibrant golden leaves, you can enjoy the occasional blooms of this lovely plant.

When and How to Water Your Creeping Inch Plant

Like other Callisia repens varieties, the creeping inch plant does not need too much water. The best way of Callisia repens  gold is to water it adequately when the soil is completely dry. It's important to strike the right balance to keep this beautiful creeping inch plant happy and healthy.

As a general rule, it's best to keep the soil evenly moist but not overly saturated. Overwatering can lead to root rot, so it's crucial to allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Gently press your finger into the soil to measure the moisture content. It's time to water if it seems dry.

In the spring and summer, during the drowing season, your creeping inch plant Callisia repens gold prefers consistent moisture. During warmer months, you may need to water more frequently, while in cooler months, you can reduce the frequency.

Light Requirements - Where to Place Your Creeping Inch Plant

If you are growing Callisia repens indoors, placing it near a window in partial shade or in a well-lit room would be ideal. An essential aspect of creeping inch plant care is that it should be placed in a place where it is exposed to bright but indirect or filtered sunlight. It thrives in a spot with moderate to high light levels, but direct sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the leaves.

When grown outdoors, the creeping inch plant can handle partial shade to full sun, but it prefers bright, indirect light or dappled sunlight.

Find a spot that receives 4-6 hours of morning or late afternoon sun, while providing some shade during the hottest part of the day. This will help prevent the leaves from burning or drying out.

If you notice that your creeping inch Callisia repens leaves start to lose their vibrant golden color or become pale, it may be an indication that it needs more light. On the other hand, if the leaves start to turn brown or develop sunburn spots, they may be getting too much direct sunlight.

Pro Tip

Callisia repens is suited for outdoor cultivation only in specific regions like southern Florida and Hawaii, where the warm, tropical climate matches its needs. In all other regions, it thrives best as a charming indoor houseplant.

Additionally, make sure to rotate your Callisia repens occasionally to ensure even growth and prevent it from leaning toward the light source. These creeping inch plant care tips will help to maintain its compact and trailing form. Providing this Callisia repens gold with the right amount of light will contribute to its overall health and enhance the beauty of its golden foliage.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizer Needs

To keep your creeping inch plant Callisia repens Gold happy, you'll want to provide it with well-draining soil and the right kind of fertilizer. It is best to use a succulent potting mix for the Callisia repens plant. Planting them in ordinary soil will result in compacted roots, stunted growth, and most likely root rot. Instead, make or buy a well-draining potting mix, or ideally use our specialized succulent potting mix that contains 5 natural substrates and mycorrhizae to promote the development of a strong root system that helps your succulent to thrive.

When it comes to fertilizing your creeping inch plant, you can use a balanced (5-10-5), water-soluble natural NPK fertilizer. Feed your Callisia repens once a year during the growing season in the spring. During the dormant season (fall and winter), you can reduce or even stop fertilizing, as the plant's growth slows down. Always remember to water your inch plant before applying fertilizer to avoid any potential root burn.

Hardiness Zone & More

The creeping inch plant is typically grown indoors as a houseplant. Native to tropical regions of North and south America, it is not frost-hardy and prefers temperatures between 65-75°F. This Callisia repens thrives in average room temperatures and can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures, but it's best to avoid extreme temperature fluctuations.

For outdoor cultivation, your Callisia repens gold, is generally hardy in USDA zones 10-11, only in specific regions like southern Florida and Hawaii, where the warm, tropical climate matches its needs.

If you live in a colder climate, it's recommended to keep your creeping inch plant indoors in a hanging pot or provide it with protection during colder months.

In terms of humidity, the gold creeping inch plant prefers moderate to high humidity levels. You can increase humidity by placing a tray of water near your turtle vine plant or by using a humidifier. Misting the leaves with water can also help create a more humid environment.

Remember to monitor the temperature and humidity levels to ensure the optimal conditions for your gold creeping inch plant's growth and well-being.

According to the ASPCA, the creeping inch plant is mildly toxic to cats, dogs, and horses if ingested in a large amount. It contains compounds that may cause skin irritation or gastrointestinal upset, such as vomiting or diarrhea, in pets. For pet owners, keeping the plant in elevated spots or using hanging baskets can help ensure both your plant and furry friends remain safe.

How to Propagate Your Creeping Inch Plant

To propagate a creeping inch plant, start by selecting a healthy stem with at least a few nodes. Using clean scissors or pruning shears, cut a stem just below a node, as this is where roots will form. Remove the lower leaves to expose the nodes and either place the stem directly in water or plant it in moist, well-draining soil. If propagating in water, ensure the nodes are submerged, and roots should appear within a week or two. For soil propagation, keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy, and place the cutting in bright, indirect light. Once roots are established, the new plant can be potted or planted in its desired location. This easy process makes the creeping inch plant perfect for beginners or those looking to expand their indoor or outdoor plant collection.

Simple, effective, strong and low profile even for shallow drawers
Color: 4-Pack Black (16"-30" Wide Drawers)
I picked up the iSPECLE 4 Pack Spice Drawer Organizer because I was trying to finally get my spice drawer organized in a way that actually made sense and stayed that way. My bottles were always rolling around or getting buried, so I wanted something low profile that would keep everything visible and easy to reach. The design is really solid and feels more durable than the plastic organizers I have used before. The steel wire construction gives it a sturdy, stable feel, and it does not slide around when opening and closing the drawer. The anti slip base helps keep everything in place, which is important when you are constantly pulling spices in and out while cooking. What I like most is how the tiered layout makes everything visible at a glance. Instead of digging through bottles or shifting things around, I can actually see all my spices right away. It makes cooking a lot smoother because I am not wasting time searching for what I need. Since it comes as a 4 pack, I was able to use the organizers in two drawers and arrange everything I had plus a little extra room for the collection of small bottles of hot sauces I have. My home is older so the drawers are on the narrow side, and low profile, so the rack's super low profile design means I can still close the drawers easily without anything jamming. That was something I was a little concerned about, but it ended up fitting nicely. There is no complicated setup, which I appreciate. I just placed the inserts in the drawer and started organizing right away. Once in place, they stay put and do not need constant adjustment. Overall, it is a simple but very effective spice organization system. The build quality feels strong, it keeps everything visible and accessible, and it has made my kitchen feel much more organized and easier to use day to day.

Perfect Fit! Completely transformed my chaotic spice drawer.
Color: 4-Pack Black (16"-30" Wide Drawers)
I used to waste so much time digging through a cluttered drawer, shuffling bottles around, and accidentally buying duplicates because things were buried. This organizer completely solved that problem. What I Love: True Low Profile: My kitchen drawers are on the shallower side, and I was worried about jamming. Because these have an ultra-low 0.9" profile, the drawer slides open and closed perfectly smoothly, even when fully loaded with standard jars. Smart Modular Design: The fact that it comes in a 4-pack is incredibly convenient. It allowed me to customize the layout to fit my exact drawer width seamlessly, with zero tools or complicated setup required. Heavy-Duty Quality: Unlike cheap plastic inserts or bulky bamboo that absorbs grease and odors, the oil-resistant carbon steel feels sturdy, premium, and is incredibly easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth. No Slip, No Rattle: The anti-slip design actually works. Jars stay locked firmly in place without rolling around or clinking together when I open the drawer in a rush. Seeing all the labels facing up in a clean "stadium view" makes cooking so much more efficient and enjoyable. If your spice drawer is currently a chaotic treasure hunt, do yourself a favor and upgrade to this—it is worth every penny!

Sturdy, with multiple uses around the kitchen and the rest of the house too
Color: 4-Pack Black (16"-30" Wide Drawers), Color: 4-Pack Black (16"-30" Wide Drawers)
These racks have a slim line and they are quite versatile in terms of arranging, which makes them easy to fit with a variety of drawer measurements. The angle of the stepped section is great- enough to make the labels on your bottles easily visible, but not so sharply angled that the edges of the jars are likely to block closing the drawer (and thus be useless). The listing makes it easy to determine whether they will fit. Round jars will also be stable in these racks, and you can double-stack the shorter spice jars. They would also be great for organizing jars of sprinkles and sanding sugars in your baking area. The racks are very sturdy and well made. The coated finish does make it easy to clean by just wiping with a damp sponge. I also found a use for them in my craft room, where they hold multiple containers of glitter and make it very easy to find what I am looking for in a range of similar colors. I have a lot of my glitter in a metal cart, and the rack can be placed over the edge of the cart, so it's also easy to layer some smaller containers underneath and lift the rack in one movement to access those. I've also considered using them as thread racks. I think you could probably come up with any number of handy uses for them. Overall I'd say these are an excellent value for the money and probably an even better value in terms of saving you time and aggravation when looking for the spices, sprinkles (or glitter!) you want to use.

🌶️ Adjustable, sturdy spice organizer that saved my small side drawer
Color: 4-Pack Black (16"-30" Wide Drawers)
I picked this iSPECLE 4-pack spice drawer organizer because I needed a neater way to store spice jars without them rolling around or getting buried in the drawer. Thank heavens it's adjustable because I'm using it in a small side drawer, and that flexibility makes a big difference. It is meant for drawers about 15" to 30" wide, so it should fit a good range of kitchen drawer sizes as long as the drawer has enough depth for your jars. The carbon steel feels sturdier than the thin plastic spice inserts I've seen in discount and big-box stores, and the black finish gives it a cleaner, more modern look inside the drawer. I like that the two-tier design angles the jars enough to see the labels more easily, instead of having everything flat and stacked on top of each other. It is best for adults, older teens setting up a kitchen, small apartment users, RV owners, or anyone trying to make a cluttered spice drawer easier to use. The low-profile design is also important because taller organizers can cause drawer jamming, especially if your spice jars are a little bigger. This one keeps things more contained without adding too much height. For value, getting four pieces makes it more useful than buying one small insert at a time, and the metal construction feels like it should hold up better than many cheaper plastic options. 🔑 Key Features 👉 4-piece spice drawer organizer set 👉 Adjustable fit for 15"-30" wide kitchen drawers 👉 2-tier angled design helps labels stay visible 👉 Carbon steel construction feels sturdy and more durable than basic plastic inserts 👉 Low-profile shape helps reduce drawer jamming 👉 Anti-slip and oil-resistant surface makes it easier to keep clean 👉 Black finish looks neat and modern inside the drawer ✨ Pros ✅ Adjustable pieces are helpful for smaller or oddly sized drawers ✅ Makes spice jars easier to see and grab quickly while cooking ✅ Metal design feels stronger than thin plastic organizers ✅ Low enough that the drawer still closes smoothly in my setup ✅ Helps turn a messy side drawer into a more organized space ✅ Easy to wipe down if spices or oil residue get on it ⚠️ Cons ❌ You still need to measure your drawer height and spice jars before ordering ❌ Larger seasoning bottles may not sit as neatly as standard spice jars ❌ Black finish may show dust or light spice residue more than clear plastic ❌ Works best in a drawer, not as a countertop display rack 💡 Final Thoughts Overall, this is a practical upgrade for anyone who wants their spice drawer to look cleaner and function better without a complicated setup. I especially like that it adjusts, because a small side drawer can be tricky to organize. It feels sturdy, looks nicer than cheap plastic inserts, and makes it easier to find spices while cooking. I'd recommend it for adults, older teens, apartment kitchens, RV kitchens, or anyone who likes a more organized cooking space.
