Description

ecuagenera philodendron Philodendron verrucosumThis is a tropical vine loved for its exquisite, velvety, heart shaped leaves. Its dark green surface is striking, featuring bright neon green veins and reddish burgundy undersides. The plant is easily recognized by its reddish, fuzzy petioles (leaf stems). Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sun must be avoided as it will quickly burn the delicate, velvety leaves. Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures, ideally between 68 86F (20 30C).

This is a tropical vine loved for its exquisite, velvety, heart-shaped leaves. Its dark green surface is striking, featuring bright neon-green veins and reddish-burgundy undersides. The plant is easily recognized by its reddish, fuzzy petioles (leaf stems).

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sun must be avoided as it will quickly burn the delicate, velvety leaves.
  • Temperature: Thrives in warm temperatures, ideally between 68-86°F (20-30°C). It is cold-sensitive; keep it above 60°F (15°C).
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity, with an ideal range of 60-80%. Using a humidifier or growing it in a terrarium is often necessary to meet this requirement.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of the potting mix feels dry to the touch. Use a loose, well-draining aroid mix to ensure good aeration and prevent the soil from becoming waterlogged.

Additional Notes

As a natural climber, it needs support to reach full size, and it requires consistent warmth and high humidity to thrive indoors. Like many aroids, this plant is considered toxic if ingested, so keep it away from pets and small children.

Not that great
Huge "The Simpsons" fan. I watched all the episodes and read a lot of the comics and enjoy most. This one however was quite boring. Turns out I'm just not a big fan of Chief Wiggum. I really enjoyed The "Homer" and "Bart" book. But not this one. Maybe if you love Wiggum you'll love it. If you're not too fond of him then I wouldn't buy it.

Good for my collection.
Format: Hardcover
This was another quick and entertaining read. This instalment wasn't as enjoyable as some of the other books but it was still good. I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Wonderful classic
Format: Board book
This book challenges the assumption that more is better, bringing back memories of my own easy-going childhood. Ezra Keats is remarkable in his ability to create a story that so many people can relate too and the books illustrations also manage to pull you back into your own childhood memories and moments of wonder at snow. His artwork is spare yet the pictures burst with brilliant color and expression. In many of the pictures, Peter lacks facial features except his eyes, but Keats manages, with the angle of his head and the composition, to convey feeling. The text, similarly economical, is made up of just enough words to tell the story -- none of them too hard for a young reader to sound out or for a young listener to understand -- and they are vivid words used powerfully, often rhyming or repeating. The result is that kids (and parents too!) can settle into Peter's snowy world. A bonus in this sparkling story is the African-American main character -- an all-too-rare occurrence, still, in children's literature. I try to expose my child to a diverse array of characters in his story books and am still left disheartened when I return from the book store because, unfortunately there really are too few choices that are quality stories that both the adult and child can enjoy reading. This is one of those books. The story is engaging and still simple enough that a child can follow along.
