Celebrate one of North America’s most iconic wildflowers with Texas Bluebonnet Seeds from Survival Garden Seeds. Known botanically as Lupinus texensis, this native annual wildflower is the official state flower of Texas and is treasured for its striking blue flower spikes that bloom in early spring. Adapted to sunny, open landscapes, Texas Bluebonnet is low maintenance, drought tolerant, and well suited to sustainable and native-style gardens.
Iconic Native Beauty:
- Vibrant blue flower spikes with classic lupine form
- Blooms in early spring for seasonal color impact
- Native to Texas meadows, fields, and roadsides
- Thrives in full sun and well-draining soils
Why Customers Love Texas Bluebonnet:
- Official state flower of Texas with strong cultural significance
- Drought resistant and well adapted to challenging conditions
- Easy to grow and low maintenance once established
- Ideal for wildflower gardens, meadows, and mass plantings
- Creates a dramatic “sea of blue” effect when planted densely
Beneficial for Pollinators & Soil Health:
Texas Bluebonnet is highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. As a member of the legume family, it also helps improve soil health by fixing nitrogen, benefiting surrounding plants in naturalized landscapes.
How to Grow Texas Bluebonnet (Lupinus texensis):
Sow seeds outdoors in fall for spring blooms, which best mimics natural growing conditions. Lightly scarifying seeds before planting can improve germination. Plant in full sun with well-draining soil and avoid overwatering. Once established, Texas Bluebonnets require minimal care and tolerate dry conditions well.
