Description

zaatar plant seeds Lebanese Za'atar – Truelove SeedsThere are many kinds of Za'atar in the Levant. This Lebanese variety is a spicy, hearty, thyme like plant with thin leaves and purple flowers. Its strong flavor makes it great for drying, pickling, or curing in olive oil. Za'atar is also used in the spice mixture of the same name, also including sesame seeds, dried sumac, salt, and other spices. Hannah Goldberg shared this variety with New Roots Community Farm in the Bronx, NY so that they could grow

Za'atar is also used in the spice mixture of the same name, also including sesame seeds, dried sumac, salt, and other spices.

Hannah Goldberg shared this variety with New Roots Community Farm in the Bronx, NY so that they could grow it for her "Refugee Powered Food and Events" at Tanabel, a food and events company. Tanabel employs refugee women with exceptional talent in the kitchen. We host gatherings that celebrate the rich and sophisticated cuisine of the Middle East and offer guests the opportunity to get to know the food and people of countries in conflict.

New Roots Community Farm involves local south Bronx residents and refugees and asylee clients of International Rescue Committee to work together to address health issues in the Bronx and for vulnerable populations. The individual and communal beds allow refugees and asylees the opportunity to integrate into their communities at the local level and join the local food movement.

Also known as: Zaatar, sarsar, Summer Savory.

Days to Maturity: 120

Seeds per pack: 200

Germination rate: 96% on 1/20/2026

Planting / harvesting notes

Sow seeds on the surface of moist potting soil and barely cover. Keep moist until germination, usually in 7-14 days. Start indoors, and later transplant in full sun 9-12" apart.

Seed keeping notes

Allow seedheads to dry on the plant. Cut the stalks below the lowest seed clusters. If necessary, dry the seedheads further in the sun on a sheet or table away from moisture and precipitation. When fully dry, whack the seedheads in a bucket, allowing the ripest seed to fall. Sift through strainers to remove the largest chaff, and then winnow off the lighter chaff with your breath, a fan, or the wind.

Cute and fairly long lasting
Size: Large, Color: Dinos Frills (Red)
Lasted from Nov 13th, 2024-August 20th, 2025 lol very impressive. She played with it nearly daily and loved the big squeak. The squeak box was just ripped out so she probably won’t play with it anymore. Happy to order another!

He was OBSESSED!!!
Size: Large, Color: Dinos Frills (Gray), Size: Large, Color: Dinos Frills (Gray)
Our year and a half old lab was excited the moment he saw it come out of the box ! He had many toys that he tore into shreds within a day so this was his first “heavy toy “ that wasn’t easy to tear . I think he loves the design and feel of it , as he carried this thing EVERYWHERE and even to bed . Him and his sister share toys but this was his , he claimed it lol Now if it wasn’t for us telling him to stop trying to kill the Dino he could have easily tore into this thing within a couple of days . However since he started chewing gently he became obsessed with the squeaker , and used that as an alarm that he was up every morning in bed 😂 The quality of the product is actually pretty good but it’s not bullet proof, and our smart dog was able to sneakily tear a whole in the nose and some how pull out the stuffing . All in all I would definitely buy another toy from this company because they are made with quality for dogs , and lasted about three weeks longer than his average toys ! It was his favorite toy 💕

More Durable Than Most
My puppy likes this. He ripped up the stuffing pretty quickly but the rope innards are strong. Both a tug toy and chew. I would prefer it unstuffed so 4 ⭐️ instead of 5.

My dogs favorite toy
Color: Ropiez Dragon
The dragon is pretty durable but I will say my dog chews off the horn the first chance she gets. There is no stuffing except for the horn. Holds up well in a tug of war and play. For an average to moderate aggressive dog it hold up for awhile. It’s not indestructible it will tear.

Very cute toy
I THOUGHT IT WOUKD BE BIGGER. it's about the size of 24 oz water bottle. Kinda small in my opinion. The dogs loved it but I've had it a week and it's already torn apart....my dogs are only about 3 months old so not very strong yet, so I would say it's like mid quality. I'll probably just sew the seam back together and call it good tbh.
