This is one of the few perennial sunflowers (for zones 3 and up) that are native to the United States. Flowers are 3 to 5 inches across but plants can get 5 to 6 feet tall. This is a multi branching sunflower variety. The bushy plants are covered in tons of brightly yellow flowers. This sunflower species is highly sought-after for tallgrass prairie restoration projects. In addition, it serves as a magnet for pollinators and songbirds, making it a top pick for those who want to attract more birds to their garden. It will take 4-5 months for it to start blooming from seed, but it gets bonus points for being perennial.
