Almost true to its name, three week fescue can grow from seed to maturity very quickly! Germinating in late winter or spring, this annual native grass produces single stems, and sometimes sparsely branching clumps, and goes to seed (completing its entire lifecycle) before the peak of summer.

This rapid growth makes three week fescue a highly useful species under conditions where rapid soil cover is needed. For example, planted into bare ground around slower-growing perennials, three week fescue can stabilize soil and reduce spaces for weeds to establish. It can also serve as a quick, and short-lived living mulch ground cover on sites where follow-up permanent native plant establishment is planned later on.

Widespread across the West Coast and Inland West (from Western Canada southward to Mexico), three week fescue tops out at around 2-feet tall, with graceful purple-ish seed heads. Despite the short lifespan, this grass leaves behind little biomass after it dies, with the foliage quickly decomposing and reducing wildfire potential and rank thatch build-up.

Tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions, three week fescue naturally occurs in sandy and serpentine soils, as well as seasonally flooded ground, but is tolerant of a wide range of conditions.

Like various other native fescues, this grass is a likely host plant for quite a few caterpillars of various moths and butterflies, including the common ringlet (Coenonympha tullia), the sandhill skipper (Polites sabuleti), the Sonora skipper (Polites sonora), the Mardon skipper (Polites mardon), the sierra skipper (Hesperia miriamae), Lindsey’s skipper (Hesperia lindseyi), and the Nevada skipper (Hesperia nevada).

Packet Size: Approximately 1000 seeds (10 grams).

Solid performer lip SFP.
Size: 0.15 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I’m outside constantly. Walking and training dogs. Working in the garden. Playing pickleball. I needed a good spf lip balm that was easy to put on and did not taste perfumery or gloopy. This one is great. I LOVE the little canister that screws on and off so it doesn’t pop off in my purse. And the consistency is stable despite heat and cold.

Great Sun Protection but Texture Could Be Better
Size: 2-Pack (0.15 Ounce each)
The Dermatone Mineral Lip Balm provides really good SPF 30 protection and keeps my lips from getting sunburned during outdoor activities. I like that it’s reef safe, oxybenzone free, and made with mineral-based ingredients, which makes it feel like a healthier option compared to many other lip balms. It does a decent job moisturizing, and the compact size is convenient to carry anywhere. However, the texture feels a little thicker and waxier than I expected, especially in cooler weather. It still works well overall, but I wish it applied a bit smoother. For anyone needing reliable sun protection for their lips, this is still a solid product worth trying.

Great spf lip balm
Size: 2-Pack (0.15 Ounce each)
I use some of their other products when hikig and mountaineering. This lip balm compaired to their others is less mediciney but still does a great job of protecting your lips from sun burn. It goes on hard and lasts all day.

Pretty good
Size: 3-Pack (0.15 Ounce each)
Very helpful to protect sensitive lips. It does have a strong white cast, but it works well.

Soothing sun protection
Size: 3-Pack (0.15 Ounce each)
Very soothing, great protection for your lips. It seems to stay put too, although I’ll reapply a few times during whatever activity I’m doing
