Green Wave Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica 'Green Wave')

Green Wave Atlas Cedar brings sculptural evergreen structure and a broad, layered habit to the landscape, making it a strong choice for gardens that need year-round form without the height of a full-sized cedar. Its low spreading shape creates a calm horizontal presence that helps anchor sunny beds, soften slopes, and add texture around stone and hardscape. The bluish-green foliage gives it a cool, refined look that works especially well alongside boulders, gravel, and darker evergreens. For gardeners who want a distinctive conifer focal point with strong architectural value in a manageable size, Green Wave is an excellent choice.

Distinctive Features

Green Wave Atlas Cedar is prized for its dwarf spreading habit and its naturally tiered branching, which creates open flat planes of bluish-green foliage. The branching is sturdy and well organized, giving the plant a sculpted look that feels architectural without appearing stiff. Unlike upright cedar forms, this selection emphasizes width and layered horizontal movement, which makes it especially effective in lower-profile designs. Mature plants are commonly described at about 3 to 5 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide over time, with a slow growth rate that helps it hold its refined form.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Plant in full sun for the best foliage color, strongest branching, and most attractive overall form.
  • Soil: Grow in well-drained soil, as this cedar performs best where excess water moves through reliably.
  • Water: Provide regular water during establishment, then water as needed, since established plants show good drought tolerance in suitable soil.
  • Zones: Hardy in USDA Zones 6 to 8.
  • Habit: This is a dwarf, spreading evergreen conifer with tiered horizontal branching and a broad low form.
  • Foliage: Bluish-green needles provide year-round color and a cool-toned refined texture.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Use as a focal point in sunny beds where its layered branching and broad form can anchor the landscape all year.
  • Rock Gardens: Include in larger rock or gravel gardens where its horizontal planes of foliage can contrast beautifully with stone.
  • Foundation Plantings: Place in larger foundation beds where its low spreading habit can add evergreen structure without blocking views.
  • Slopes and Banks: Use on gentle slopes or berms where its broad form can soften grade changes and create a stable visual mass.
  • Conifer Gardens: Add to conifer collections where its architectural shape and smaller scale make it a standout accent.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Watering Routine: Water consistently during establishment, then reduce supplemental watering once roots are settled in well-drained soil.
  • Pruning: Prune only lightly if needed to shape the plant or remove damaged growth, since the natural tiered habit is one of its best features.
  • Drainage: Avoid wet sites, especially in winter, because consistently soggy soil can reduce vigor and long-term performance.
  • Spacing: Give the plant room to spread so the full layered habit can be appreciated over time.
  • Placement: Site it where the horizontal form can be viewed from the side or slightly above for the strongest design impact.

Why Choose Green Wave Atlas Cedar?

  • Architectural Habit: The tiered branching creates a layered sculptural look that stands out in every season.
  • Manageable Size: It offers cedar character in a lower broader form that fits more comfortably into home landscapes.
  • Cool Evergreen Color: The bluish-green foliage adds year-round contrast alongside green, gold, and darker companions.
  • Strong Landscape Versatility: It works beautifully in rock gardens, foundation beds, slopes, and conifer collections.
  • Long-Term Specimen Value: Its slow growth and naturally refined structure make it a memorable evergreen focal point.

Green Wave Atlas Cedar is an excellent choice for gardeners who want sculptural evergreen form, cool-toned foliage, and a broad manageable conifer in one plant. Whether used in a sunny specimen bed, a rock garden, or a larger foundation planting, it brings year-round beauty and a calm, confident focal point to the landscape.

From Babylon to Timbuktu
Format: Paperback
What I like about this book is how it truly I must say base all it information on facts and allows the reader to search for themselves that truth. Very informative reading! There are many books such as this, which goes along with what the authour here is stating. A well written and well research issue, I have yet to come across. This book invites anyone, no matter of race or ethnicity, to see the real, yet truth behind ones identity as respects where He/She came from when it comes to the lineage of Noah's three sons: Ham, Shem, Japheth. It breaks it down using Biblical though logic to determine who, when, where, how, the races came about. A Must Read!!! Let truth be told... who the true sons of Noah (Ham, Shem, Japheth) when it relates to my culture (as a Negro or Hebrew Israelite). What's interesting about this book is how it goes into by way of explaining, through a series of logics base on facts, showing you the differention between the two Sons of Noah: Ham and Shem (who were actually of non-colour), according to their identity. The Bible is clear on this fact, however, the "myth" that Ham was "curse" as a race which lead to their skin colour turning Black, which lead to the mass genocide and reason for slavery. It is rather interesting how many miss the two of Noah's Sons: Ham & Shem being of non-colour and that Yeshua (Jesus) was actually from the line of Shem, therefore, being a person of non-colour... According to the actual fact presented, HAM in the Bible had four (4) sons: Cush (Ethiopia), Mizraim (Egyptians), Phut (Libya -N.Africans), Canaan (S.Africa). These were the progenitour of the Dark Races, NOT the Negroes!(Genesis 10:6) The Negroes were from Shem, who were the Hebrew Israelites! However, the progenitours of Japheth was the Greek, Romans, Europeans or the Caucasians. According to Alexander Hamilton Bible Dictionary pg. 330, defines HAM: "The youngest son of Noah born probably about 96 years, before the flood. One of the 8 person to live during the flood. He became the progenitor of the dark races, Not the Negroes, but the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans, and Canaanites." A MUST READ!!!

You will be enlightened
Format: Paperback
Per the author, this book is “intended as a supplement to existing literature on African and Black Hebrew history.” If you are not looking for such, this will not be the book for you. This may be why some reviewers find the book to be a disappointment. What makes this book great is that it is detailed-oriented, factual, and intends to drive points home for the reader. Even more, it sparks your curiosity on the subject matter, as intended. Many of us have been brainwashed and forced into believing historical occurrences that are false and biased so I can understand why some individuals find this book challenging to accept, believe, and understand; however, that’s what makes the book great –it encourages you to research and to come to an educated conclusion. I have been enlightened by this book; however, it is repetitive in some areas. It is not written as most of our “modern” books, following certain standards of writing and, therefore, can be considered challenging to read, but after I finished it I was happy that I did read it because my world has become even larger. Yet, that does not discredit the author or the book itself. This is not your typical book and as it is a supplement, be equipped with a search engine, history books, the bible, and more. I promise that you will see most of the points and historical accounts provided are indeed true.
