This Trident Maple Specimen was collected in 2004 from a 15-20 year old piece of stock. It was cut back and put into a trainer, and cut again to a line in 2016. We have been allowing the branches to grow unrestricted to let them thicken but this year they will be pinched off for more twigginess.

At the time of these photos this tree was approximately twenty-seven inches tall from the soil to the tip of the tree. The trunk is five and a half inches and the pot is twenty inches wide. The tree pictured here is the tree that you will receive. Trees are known to drop leaves during shipping and due to this and the general growth habit of bonsai, your tree may appear slightly different upon receipt. Photos were taken in May of 2024.

This tree is in our bonsai soil mix (equal parts red lava, black lava, hyuga pumice, and akadama). Trident Maples like a sunny spot when weather is nice, will do better with some shade for protection during the hottest days of the summer months. They like a lot of water, especially when they are in their growing season but do not like to be soggy. We make sure that they have perfect drainage with our soil.
