Lavender (Lavendula) is a Mediterranean evergreen, perennial that grows in well drained, sunny sites. It prefers poor, light soil and requires little maintenance. The striking contrast of long flowers against light green foliage makes a beautiful addition to any garden.

Depending on the cultivar you select, lavender grows 2-3 feet in height (60-90 cm) and blooms from early summer through to early fall. The flowers, also known as corollas, range in colour from deep purple to light pink.

 Phenomenal

Lavendula x intermedia ‘Phenomenal’

This is a gorgeous classic french hybrid, that is known for blooming first and producing long dramatic floral stems topped with 5 inch flowers. 

These beautiful flowers are light violet-blue and have an amazing sweet scent.‘Phenomenal’ is a compact, bushy shrub whose aromatic, silver-green leaves begin flowering in midsummer, repeating in late summer and fall. This cultivar grows 2-3 feet (60-90cm) in height and 3 feet (90 cm) wide. This variety is known for it’s exceptional winter hardiness, as well as the ability to tolerate heat and humidity well.

 

Grosso 

Lavendula x intermedia ‘Grosso’

This is a classic French hybrid known for its extremely fragrant long dark blue flower spikes. It’s wide grey-green foliage grows vigourously, hence it’s common name ‘fat lavender’. This large plant blooms heavily in mid to late summer.

Royal Velvet  -  Lavandula Angustifolia

‘Royal Velvet’ is true to its name with rich, velvety navy corollas that grow 3-4 inches on long stems. This cultivar is extremely fragrant and retains its rich colour making it perfect in bouquets of dried or fresh flowers.

The eye-catching plant is known for rapid growth and long lasting blooms, starting in late June and lasting into the cool weather of the early fall. ‘Royal Velvet’ is unique in it’s ability to withstand wet winters.

Hidcote - Lavandula Angustifolia

Grow this beautiful English cultivar known for it’s long lasting scent and sweet flavour as a culinary favourite! It’s reliable, dark purple flowers make delicious teas, garnish or addition to any dish. Produces long into the season.

Super Blue - Lavandula Angustifolia

Grow this gorgeous English cultivar known for its grey-green foliage and rich deep blue flower spikes. No other variety creates such a colourful display. This plant is extremely fragrant and continues to bloom well into the cooler weather of early fall.

‘Super Blue’ is known to have excellent winter hardiness as well as, high heat and humidity tolerance. Prune in early spring, no more than 4 inches. 1' high and 1' wide

Big, abundant flowers on a compact lavender that is perfect for pots, perennial borders, or massed as a flowering hedge. Their team responded quickly and arranged to send me a replacement right away for the unit that had apparently become completely discharged and unusable. Great Wireless meat thermometer.

The Typhur Sync WiFi Wireless Meat Thermometer works great. One of my favorite features is that it’s completely wireless—it makes cooking so much easier without having to deal with tangled cords. The phone app is a huge plus. It’s very convenient and versatile—you can use the preset settings or fully customize your cook. I especially like that you can set multiple alarms for different temperatures and situations. For example, I once forgot to check my wood chips and had an alert set if the temperature dropped below a certain point. Sure enough, the alarm went off, and when I checked, I was out of wood chips. That feature alone saved my cook. I also find the app much easier to use than the actual unit when setting everything up. As for accuracy, the temperature readings between the two probes are within a degree of each other and match up with my instant-read thermometer, which gives me a lot of confidence in the results. This is not a sponsored review: I have tried multiple wireless thermometers for the last few months. I smoke meat every week and knowing the temperature of the meat is extremely important. Having WiFi for them is a game changer. I never had any disconnects and the temperature of the meat was just spot on. I made a pork loin for the first time with it. It told me the ambient temperature and I could see when the projected cook was done. It was the juiciest pork loin I have done. The display was easy to tell and read without having to pull out my phone. The app was easy to read as well. The professional app setting was amazing to see the differences between the 6 sensors all the way down to tenths of a degree. I also got the instaprobe as well. This thing is so fast to read the temperature. It reads an accurate temperature in less than a second. The company is a small upcoming company based in the United States which was a plus for sure. They maybe new to the game but they will definitely make a splash coming soon. It maybe a little more expensive than other wireless probes but it is definitely worth the money. Update after using for a while. I have had no issues at all with the product. The WiFi is amazing and almost never disconnects. The batteries are able to last through the 18-20 hour smoke without charging again. The temps are spot on. After using the Typhur Sync, the meat I have made have came out so much juicier and not dried out at all. The time to put the meat sensor is spot on. I could not recommend this company and its products enough.

Easy to use by itself or with the App

==Update 4/5/25 ===================== Last summer Typhur ran a sale for the Sync Quad, so I bought that and gifted the Sync to a friend. (It's still going strong.) The Quad has the same features, but with four probes, which are a bit thinner than the original Sync. I really like that the probes can go in the dishwasher, and the base unit is cleverly designed to display the probes while charging them (which is quick). The device and app both get regular updates. A few months ago the device got the ability to control the volume of the alarms it makes, and recently the app added a feature to allow notes to be added to recorded cooks, for example. ==Original review from 1/20/24 ===================== I've had the Sync for a month and a half now and am super pleased with it. It replaces an Inkbird remote thermometer with wired probes, which had been my go to for several years, but it didn't like being outside in the rain for a long cook. Because the Typhur Sync has wireless probes, I can leave the base in my kitchen out of the weather (even though they claim that the base is waterproof, too.) The cook time prediction is pretty close and allows me to get my sides prepared so everything comes to the table at the same time. The remote connection to my home wifi is strong and never fails. The App on my Android phone is fast to connect and easy to use. It has a "pro" mode that lets you see what each individual temperature sensor is reading, so if you're smoking a big prime rib like I did over Xmas, you can actually see how done it is from the outside in. Because the probes are wireless, you can insert them while inside where the light is good before going out to the grill in the dark. I've used it in my oven too, and it works just as well.
