It’s perfect for containers, hanging baskets, or as part of a mixed succulent garden.

Characteristics

  • Foliage: The leaves of Graptosedum ‘Alpenglow’ are plump and rounded, often exhibiting a beautiful gradient of colors that intensify with exposure to sunlight.
  • Flowers: In the summer, this succulent produces clusters of small star-shaped flowers that are typically yellow or orange, attracting pollinators.

Care Instructions

Light Requirements

Graptosedum ‘Alpenglow’ thrives in bright sunlight, requiring at least 6 hours of direct light daily. It prefers morning sunlight with some protection from harsh afternoon rays to prevent leaf burn.

Soil and Potting

Use a well-draining soil mix specifically formulated for succulents or cacti. A combination of potting soil with perlite or coarse sand is ideal for promoting drainage. Ensure that pots have drainage holes to prevent root rot.

Watering

Follow the “soak and dry” method for watering:

  • Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry.
  • During the growing season (spring and summer), water every 1 to 2 weeks.
  • Reduce watering frequency in fall and winter as the plant enters dormancy.

Temperature and Humidity

Graptosedum ‘Alpenglow’ prefers moderate temperatures between 60°F to 80°F (15°C to 27°C). It is not frost-hardy and should be protected from temperatures below 30°F (-1°C). This succulent thrives in low humidity environments.

Fertilization

Fertilize during the growing season with a diluted balanced fertilizer once a month. Avoid fertilizing during winter when the plant is dormant.

Propagation

Propagation of Graptosedum ‘Alpenglow’ can be easily done through:

  1. Leaf Cuttings: Take healthy leaf cuttings, allow them to callous for a few days before planting in well-draining soil.
  2. Offsets: The plant may produce offsets that can be gently removed from the main plant and replanted.

Common Issues

  • Pests: Watch for pests such as mealybugs and aphids. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
  • Diseases: Overwatering is the primary concern for this succulent, leading to root rot. Ensure proper watering techniques are followed.

A TERRIFIC FIND FOR US IN ECUADOR
Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Here in Ecuador, this product isn't even available to us. I have the most precious 20 month old girl living with us and of course I wanted to get a quality product at less cost. This fits the bill. With an SPF 100 rating from a decades old and trusted manufacturer and a price that is less than one third of what I would have to pay for any sort of water resistant equivalent, this was a no brainer. If you buy this product, please read the instructions and follow them. It is a spray product that great care should be used to avoid spraying directly on the face--------- either your own or the child's. Spray it on your hand and apply it to any face that needs it. It's convenient for neck, shoulders, backs and legs due to its spray delivery. Our little 20 month old must be part fish because she loves the thermal pools we take her to and this product seems quite durable

SPF 100 FTW
Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I find it very important to have strong sunscreen. Thankfully I found this with 100 SPF. So glad plus I’m happy that I found it in spray because it’s so much easier to apply the kids and then I just have them rub it in. It also makes reapplying so much easier because just start spraying and have them turn around and around that you’re good to go.

Not eczema skin friendly
Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1), Size: 5.5 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Since I didn’t remember which sunblock spray I had previously purchased (that was super awesome), I got this one with a few other ‘kid’ sunblock spray and stick. I had grabbed this one for a splash pad birthday party this weekend only to find out it’s messy and not eczema skin friendly. Either we got a defective bottle or it’s just the way it sprays: runny goops of sunscreen that takes awhile to dry properly (see photo). And when it dries it really does stick onto your skin as advertised (aka not breathable, pore clogging, will irritate sensitive/eczema prone skin). My youngest has eczema prone skin (that’s been flare up free for 3 years) had a severe break out on her arms after using this. And even for the sake of photo demonstration for this post my own sensitive skin got red/irritated. So does it stick-yup. Is it messy? Definitely. Easy to apply? No (your kiddos have to stay put until it dries). Did it provide sun protection? Maybe…? Sensitive skin friendly? No. Eczema skin approved? Definitely not. Recommended? Nope. We threw it away and requested a refund.

I love it
It does its work. I know many people don't like mineral sunscreens because of the white look on the skin( which it goes away once you rub it right), but I'm telling you, it's the only ingredient that it actually protects you from the UV rays and getting sunburn. The little one it's amazing and my kids love it because it's easy to put on.

Great children's sunscreen for sensitive skin
I really like this children's sunscreen. The facial stick that comes with it is quite small but it's still very convenient and works well. You do need to rub the facial stick in once it's applied to your child's face. The spray sunscreen also needs to be rubbed in as well because it comes out a little thick but is easy to rub in. There is not really a scent to it so my kids don't mind it being applied. My kids have sensitive skin too and we have had no problems as well. Would highly recommend!
