Description

The Alocasia Odora fills your home with warmth, waving hello each morning with its heart-shaped leaves. This wonderful elephant ear plant creates a tropical retreat indoors with impressive foliage reaching 2 feet long and growing up to 10 feet tall.

The thick, glossy leaves of this East and Southeast Asian native reflect light beautifully.

Care

Are Alocasia Odora hard to keep?

Once you get your head around a regular care routine, you’ll be fine. Your Alocasia Odora needs bright indirect light, regular humidity, and steady watering.

What is the best fertilizer for Alocasia Odora?

Your Alocasia Odora will thrive with balanced 20-20-20 liquid fertilizer applied at half strength once monthly during growing season. During winter months, we recommend skipping fertilizer entirely since it naturally slows down its growth and takes a well-deserved rest.

Do elephant ear plants need sun or shade?

Your elephant ear plant loves bright indirect light but needs protection from harsh direct sunlight that can damage those beautiful leaves. Think of it like someone who enjoys bright mornings but prefers staying comfortably shaded during intense afternoon heat.

Where is the best place to put an Alocasia Odora?

The perfect spot for your Alocasia Odora is near east or west-facing windows, where it'll receive plenty of filtered light. Bathrooms and kitchens work wonderfully since it loves the natural humidity from your daily routines (one less thing to worry about)!

How often should I water Alocasia Odora?

Water your Alocasia Odora approximately every two weeks, checking that the top few inches of soil feel dry to the touch first. It prefers soil that stays consistently moist but never soggy—like a well-wrung washcloth that feels pleasantly damp.

How tall do Alocasia Odora get indoors?

A typical Alocasia Odora will grow 3-5 feet tall indoors, but we carry some impressive specimens up to 10 feet tall! It’s substantial enough to create a beautiful centerpiece without completely taking over your living space entirely.

Do Alocasia Odora like to be misted?

Your Alocasia loves regular misting to recreate the humid conditions of its native tropical environment. Misting also helps prevent spider mites while keeping those gorgeous leaves looking healthy and glossy—it's like you’re providing a refreshing spa treatment!

Is Alocasia Odora a good plant for beginners?

Alocasia Odora can work beautifully for beginners ready to learn its specific care needs and maintain consistent routines. Among Alocasia varieties, she's actually quite forgiving.

Pet-friendly?

Alocasia Odora aren't pet-friendly because of the calcium oxalate crystals that can harm our furry family members. We recommend placing this beauty somewhere your pets can admire it from a safe distance but never take a curious nibble.

Are Alocasia Odora poisonous to dogs?

Alocasia Odora can be harmful to dogs, potentially causing oral pain, drooling, vomiting, and throat swelling if eaten. In serious cases, breathing difficulties can occur, so please contact your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your dog has nibbled your plant.

Are Alocasia Odora toxic to cats?

Alocasia Odora can cause mouth irritation, excessive drooling, vomiting, and pawing at the mouth in cats who taste the leaves. We suggest displaying your plant in a location where your feline friends can appreciate its beauty from a respectful distance.

Factoids

Is Alocasia Odora the same as elephant ears?

Alocasia Odora is one type of elephant ear plant, but the term "elephant ears" actually includes different plant families like Colocasia and Xanthosoma too. The main difference is that Alocasia leaves point upward while Colocasia varieties tend to droop downward.

Is Alocasia Odora toxic?

Alocasia Odora contains calcium oxalate crystals that can cause mouth and throat irritation in both humans and animals if ingested. We always recommend handling your plant with gloves and keeping it away from children and pets so everyone stays safe.

Does Alocasia Odora clean the air?

Like many houseplants, your Alocasia does help purify the air, but its main gifts are increasing humidity and bringing tropical beauty. Think of it as nature's humidifier with the added bonus of stunning visual appeal (another reason to love it)!

Do elephant ears bloom?

Elephant ear plants produce fragrant flowers that bloom at night, although this doesn’t happen often indoors and mainly with mature plants. If you're lucky enough to witness blooms, you'll be treated to a fragrance that makes staying up late worthwhile!

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.
