Plant Details

  • Scientific Name: Monstera deliciosa

  • Common Names: Swiss Cheese Plant, Mexican Breadfruit, Split-leaf Philodendron (though not a true Philodendron)

  • Family: Araceae

  • Type: Tropical climbing evergreen

  • Height: Indoors 6–10 ft (with support); Outdoors up to 20 ft+

  • Leaves: Large, glossy, heart-shaped leaves that develop natural splits & holes (fenestrations) as they mature

  • Flowers & Fruits: Rare indoors; fruit is edible when ripe, tastes like pineapple + banana

 Care Instructions

Sun Light

  • Prefers bright, indirect sunlight.

  • Tolerates medium light but will grow slower with fewer splits in leaves.

  • Avoid harsh direct sunlight → scorches leaves.

 Watering

  • Water when top 2–3 inches of soil are dry.

  • Summer: Once a week (more in hot climates).

  • Winter: Once every 10–14 days.

  • Loves humidity → mist leaves or use a humidifier.

 Soil

  • Well-draining, airy mix.

  • Ideal mix: Peat/cocopeat + perlite + orchid bark + compost.

  • pH: Slightly acidic to neutral (5.5–7).

 Fertilizer

  • Use a balanced liquid fertilizer (20:20:20 or 10:10:10) every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer.

  • High nitrogen fertilizers encourage lush leaf growth.

  • Organic options: Seaweed extract, compost tea, or fish emulsion.

  • Stop feeding in late fall and winter.

 Pruning & Maintenance

  • Remove yellow or damaged leaves.

  • Give a moss pole or coco stick to climb — promotes bigger leaves with more fenestrations.

  • Repot every 2–3 years into a bigger pot.

Uses

  1. Ornamental: Popular for homes, offices, and interior design.

  2. Air Purifier: Helps filter indoor toxins.

  3. Feng Shui: Believed to attract abundance, vitality, and positivity.

  4. Edible Fruit (outdoors): Ripe fruit tastes like a mix of banana, pineapple, and jackfruit (unripe fruit is toxic).

Caution:

  • Leaves and stems are toxic to pets and humans if ingested

Awful product
These are terribly greasy, causing blurry vision. The first ingredient is mineral oil! Prior to ordering I searched the listing for the ingredients list and found nothing. I went to the product's website and still found nothing. I read reviews, which were mixed. I ordered them anyway, foolishly, and threw them in the trash.

Gentle and effective
I've been using these pads a loooong time. They take off everything and are not irritating at all (my skin is super sensitive). However they WILL leave an oily residue on your skin causing your makeup to spread around your face a bit. I don't mind this since I'd rather be over moisturized than dry. Nothing a little Cetaphil can't conquer post eye makeup removal. I've since switched to Bioderma Crealine which lives up to all the hype. It takes ALL my makeup off without leaving any residue. I still use the EyeQ pads for heavy duty mascara and traveling since they are compact and cut down on the amount of stuff I need to carry.

A Little Too Oily
These little pads work great in removing eye makeup after cleansing your face, but they leave an oily residue on your eyelids. I found that wiping with a cold wet cotton ball removes the excess oil from my eyelids but is necessary. I saw these in an advertisement for youthful looking skin, but I have not seen these results from the short period of using them. I will add they are soft on the eyelid and not scratchy and easy to use. Give them a try.

Will be my go-to
As good as my almay brand, but at a better cost point. Also removes waterproof mascara without eye irritation.
