Tillandsia cacticola Thin Leaf - a visually striking air plant native to the dry forests and rocky deserts of Peru. Its name reflects its natural habit of growing on cacti for support:

  • Foliage: Forms a rosette of soft, narrow, densely packed, silvery-white or gray-green leaves that are covered in tiny, moisture-absorbing scales called trichomes. Leaves are pliable and curve gracefully outward, often taking on a slightly recurved shape as they mature
  • Inflorescence: It produces a tall, showy spike with lilac-lavender bracts and delicate, cream-colored or violet-tinged tubular flowers that bloom over a long period
  • Fragrance: While not overpowering like a garden flower, the blooms of Tillandsia cacticola are often described as having a clean, fresh, slightly sweet scent. It is most notable on warm mornings when the flowers are fully open.

Key features:

  • In its native Peru, it is found growing vertically on the shaded sides of large columnar cacti. It rarely grows on rocks or trees, preferring the protection and drainage provided by cactus spines
  • Growth Pattern: The species has a slow, deliberate growth pattern. It tends to be a single, large specimen for a long time before producing pups. After blooming, it is prolific in pupping and the pups usually emerge from the base after the mother plant has peaked. It has a very short stem, meaning the leaves grow from a compact base, giving it a tidy, structured appearance.
  • Size: At maturity, the plant typically reaches 20-25cm (8-10") in diameter. The plant body itself usually stays under 6 inches tall. A key identifier is that the flower spike is often taller than the foliage, extending 10-12" above the plant.

 Size Inches (Diameter)
Large 6"-8"
X-Large 8"-10"
Specimen 10"+

Care tip: Caring for this plant is all about balancing its three main needs:light, water, and airflow. It is considered an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced collectors

Ideal for: Beginners, gardeners with limited space, creative decorator, low-water plant collector, and pollinator enthusiasts

Not interested in chewing this toy
Size: 8"
Our corgi is a very aggressive chewer but just doesn’t like this toy. He’ll pick it up excitedly and run off with it only to drop it and walk away, as if he tastes something bad. He’s attempted to chew it a few times but will stop within a few seconds and just walk away. He’s done this at least 10 times. I can’t figure it out. This dog chews up everything, but leaves this toy alone. I had such great hopes for this chew toy. A big waste of money.

The best for my 3 extreme chewers!!
Size: 9.75"
These are the only bones I buy!!! We have three extreme chewers, pitty, Great Dane, German Shepard, and they love these! They last for about 6 months or so before they get to small for my liking and I order more. That is amazing considering the "toughest" toys that are "indestructible" usually last three minutes max lol. I like that they are made of good ingredients and made in the USA, and they don't have any weird smells like some bones I've tried. They all go bananas when I get a new box in, definitely my only go to for extreme chewers!!

10/10!
Size: 6", Size: 6"
My dogs love the Boar BarkBone! I ordered a medium thinking it would still be pretty big, but it came in looking more like a small, hence the name of the "Boar" BarkBone. The Dino BarkBones seem to size up one and the Boar BarkBones size down one, so keep that in kind when getting one for your furry friend. Nevertheless, my two smaller dogs still enjoy chewing on this bone! It is easy for them to keep a hold of and easy to chew on. Like other Pet Qwerks bones we’ve gotten in the past, it does not smell to me, but the dogs seem to love the smell and it is everlasting throughout the entire life of the bone. It doesn’t ever break off in easy-to-swallow chunks and is actually pretty hard to break into. This bone is perfect for every dog, from light chewers to tough chewers, and is something I would recommend to anyone!
