The Quetta '23 XXL Purple selection, originating from the Balochistan province in Pakistan, is a THC-dominant broad-leaf Indica with a pungent diesel aroma.

This tall and sturdy plant has a flowering period of 11-13 weeks and is usually grown between April and November. It produces dry resin and induces a strong sedative body high.

The cannabis culture in Balochistan is legendary, and for good reason. Balochistan is the largest province in Pakistan and is bordered by Afghanistan, Iran, and the Khyber region. Farmers here have been using innovative agricultural practices to continuously improve their crop, which stands in stark contrast to the region's traditions.

Due to its location the cannabis landraces express features typical of mid-latitude ranges from 24º-32º N. Plants will usually flower for 11-13 weeks before they reach maturity, with 3-4 weeks of pre-flowering followed by rapid floral bract production, leading them to triple or even quadruple in size when ripe.

For years, the Indian Landrace Exchange has been showcasing various selections from different regions of Balochistan. Farmers in this area often introduce fully domesticated cannabis varieties from higher latitude regions such as Afghanistan and Uzbekistan to crossbreed with their native plants. This selective breeding process aims to produce more compact plants that flower faster and have higher concentrations of cannabinoids and terpenes, resulting in a more flavorful and potent hashish.

Traditionally, these populations are propagated through open pollination, leading to a significant genetic diversity in terms of plant and flower structure. However, certain traits such as smell, potency, coloration, and flowering duration remain consistent across the plants.

To ensure a diverse gene pool, the Indian Landrace Exchange collaborated with one of the most experienced growers in this region, known for their vibrant purple and red-colored plants and high-quality hashish production. They conducted careful selections from their fields, showcasing various types of purple to black colored plants from this native variety.

During this particular expedition the ILE crew focused on the desert region of Dasht, which is a series of mountains, slopes, and remote valleys on the outskirts of Quetta. This particular region is extremely dry and experiences a desert climate with minimal rainfall during the hottest months of the year. 

Quetta '23 XXL Purple is especially recommended for outdoor growing in hot and dry climates due to its excellent adaptability to heat and drought in its place of origin. It also tolerates cold spells during flowering and strong temperature variations throughout its development.

Balochistan landrace strains can be grown indoors too. Moderate levels of nutrients are recommended for the whole cycle, slightly higher in N-P-K during peak flowering period.

Quetta '23 XXL Purple buds have a strong medicinal body effect. 

Germination info: ILE seeds must be planted directly in soil. A heating mat is beneficial during cooler months. The average germination time is 5-12 days. Do NOT throw away your soil if the seedlings don't appear after a few days!
