Anthurium 'Dorayaki'

Anthurium 'Dorayaki' is a compact velvet Anthurium grown for rounded, silver-veined leaves held in a tidy self-heading crown. The blades are broadly heart-shaped to nearly circular, with a soft velvet surface and bright venation.

Fresh blades expand pale and delicate, then darken and firm as they mature. The roots need warmth, moisture and oxygen at the same time, so a breathable Anthurium mix is important.

Anthurium 'Dorayaki' key traits

  • Leaf shape: Rounded heart-shaped to near-circular blades.
  • Leaf surface: Velvet texture with a soft sheen under filtered light.
  • Venation: Silver to pale green veins create a clear radial pattern.
  • Growth habit: Compact self-heading Anthurium with a neat central crown.

Anthurium 'Dorayaki' indoor care

  • Light: Provide bright filtered light and protect soft or pale foliage from harsh midday sun.
  • Watering: Water when the upper part of the substrate has started to dry, then drain thoroughly.
  • Substrate: Use a loose Anthurium mix with bark, coco chips, pumice or perlite so roots receive moisture and oxygen.
  • Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 18–28 °C, and protect from cold wet substrate.
  • Humidity: Moderate to high humidity helps new leaves expand cleanly; pair humidity with gentle airflow.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth with a diluted complete fertiliser.
  • Repotting: Repot when roots fill the pot or the mix begins to collapse.
  • Pot size: Keep the pot proportionate to the root system because oversized pots hold excess moisture.

Anthurium 'Dorayaki' issues to check

  • Yellowing lower leaves: Check for compacted substrate, cool roots or a pot staying wet for too long.
  • Brown edges: Review humidity, watering gaps and fertiliser strength.
  • Distorted new growth: Inspect young leaves for thrips or mites and stabilise humidity.
  • Soft stems or crown: Check root health and improve drainage immediately.

Anthurium 'Dorayaki' handling and safety

Anthurium 'Dorayaki' should be kept away from pets and children that may chew plant material. Like other Anthuriums, it contains calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth, throat, skin and eyes.

Anthurium 'Dorayaki' name background

Anthurium belongs to the family Araceae. The genus name comes from Greek anthos, meaning flower, and oura, meaning tail, referring to the spadix.

Total waste of money
Color: Classic, Size: L 3.94 in (10 cm)
I seldom write reviews, but save your money as far as I’m concerned. Maybe mine was faulty. I don’t know. But it’s hard as a rock and too big for to my Australian Shepherd to get her teeth around. It barely made a noise. Maybe I misunderstood the description, but I bought it for her because she’s blind and yet loves to play fetch so I thought it was going to make enough noise for her to find it, but it was a total bust at least for me.

Very Disappointing
Color: Classic, Size: S 3.14 in (8 cm)
The ball is a hard plastic; not flexible at all and uncomfortable for my dog to pick up. It makes NO NOISE while rolling across the floor. I bought it for my newly blind dog because other dog owners said their blind dogs can track the squeaky noise and follow the ball. How... when it doesn't make the noise it's supposed to? It works only if I shake it, totally defeating the purpose. It would be difficult for my dog to chew on the hard plastic, so durability seems pretty good. It's also a nice looking toy, and I think it's safe, as there are no loose parts and the squeaker would be difficult to get to for most dogs. My dog WANTS to enjoy it, but she can't.

My min pin loves this ball. Only negative is it’s a little too big for her but she manages to still pick it up
