Amaranthus cruentus - Hot Biscuits is a striking flowering plant that is a real eye-catcher in your garden. With its hanging dreadlocks, this species offers a fantastic look. The warm orange and brown spikes evoke the atmosphere of autumn and provide a beautiful vertical accent in your field bouquet.

When picking for a bouquet, it is often easier to cut the young shoots instead of the large dreadlocks, so that they are easier to work into a vase. But when you place several of these hanging stems in a large vase, you are guaranteed to have a showstopper! They are also excellent for drying, so you can enjoy them all year round.

At around 120cm tall, the elegant stems are perfect for adding height to your flower beds, and are a great choice for the cutting garden. A handy tip is to top the plants when they are around 15cm tall, otherwise the bunches will become too large and less usable.

Sowing instructions:

Amaranthus is easy to sow, but this plant absolutely cannot tolerate cold. It is therefore advisable not to sow them indoors before mid-April or to sow them directly in the open ground in May/June. The optimum germination temperature is between 21-24 degrees Celsius. Amaranth grows quickly, so make sure you do not sow too early. After the risk of night frost (around mid-May), you can plant the seedlings in the open ground, with a distance of about 50 cm between the plants. This seems a lot when the plants are still small, but once you see the fully grown plants, you will understand why!

Rope comes out at the slightest force. Pointless tug toy!
Color: Four colors, Size: 6cm (with rope)
If your dog pulls on these (and why wouldn’t he?), the rope immediately comes out. Turns out they just fuse the ends of the nylon rope together, which is no match for a dog playing tug. Any dog, any level of pulling will dismantle these. We’ve managed to reinsert the rope to a couple of these and KNOT it, which gives you a shorter rope but a toy that can withstand some play. But if I had wanted a DIY toy, I’d have used the balls and rope I already own.

Not for super chewers!
Color: Four colors, Size: 5cm (with rope), Color: Four colors, Size: 5cm (with rope)
These rope ball toys arrived today. My poodle puppy loves rope ball toys and playing tug of war. These didn’t last 10 minutes. For context, she is 1 y.o., 30 lbs., is not teething & has her adult teeth. She did this on her own- we were not playing tug of war at the time the toy fell apart. At least there are 3 more in the package & when the rope is done, we’ll still have the balls to play with.

Fun, Durable Balls for smaller heavy chewers
Color: Four colors, Size: 5cm (ball only)
Perfect size and strength for my small dog that is a heavy chewer! She hasn’t been able to destroy and chew up this one like she has with every other toy! Definitely chew resistant.
