Echeveria 'Paso Doble' is a succulent plant belonging to the Echeveria family. It is a hybrid between Echeveria colorata and E. longissima var. brachyantha. The plant has velvety green leaves that are distinctly folded at the center and curved inwards at the top, with bright red margins and red spots on the backs of the leaves. Under full sunlight, the leaves turn beautifully red, much like a bullfighter in a bright red dress.
How to care for Echeveria 'Paso Doble'
Sun/Temperature: Echeveria 'Paso Doble' thrives best in a calm and sunny environment and requires about 3-6 hours of sunlight daily. It can be grown in open conditions but can also be placed indoors on a sunny balcony or by a window. It needs to be shaded in the summer to protect it from intense direct light. Its temperature range is between 50-70°F, but if it falls below 40°F, it must be kept warm and moved indoors.
Soil/Watering: Echeveria 'Paso Doble' is a hardy plant that can be grown in a loose and breathable medium such as peat/coir, granular soil, or a high percentage of granular soil. It can be watered with a soak-and-dry watering method. However, it is important to remove standing water after watering and keep water out of the soil. During summer, when temperatures are high, watering can be reduced or cut off.
Pot: When choosing a pot for Echeveria 'Paso Doble,' the first criterion is drainage holes. Additionally, since the plant produces side shoots, it can be grown in pots with a larger diameter.
