Description:
Start Lavender seeds and grow this lovely rosy-pink shade! If you have a herb garden full of blue or lavender colored English Lavender herb plants, then add this pink to make a lovely contrast. Lavandula Angustifolia is one of the richest in essential oils, giving more fragrance power both fresh and dried. This English Lavender Rosea is the original and first rose Lavender plant available. Lavender uses include crystallizing fresh flowers for candies, cakes, and other pastries. Dried Lavender flowers are used in potpourris and sachets and essential oils are used in creams and perfumes. Or, simply just grow the herb seed to grow a wonderful addition in your flower garden or herb garden. Lavandula Angustifolia Rosea is an evergreen perennial with green leaves. Many of the other types of Lavender plants have blue, grey, or blue-grey leaves. Lavender Rosea will grow to approximately 9 to 12 inches in height and will be 12 to 18 inches wide. Its green leaves are typically about 2 1/2 inches on strong stems. Stalks of delicate pink flowers grow up to 12 inches tall. Lavender care includes trimming the plant back in spring to encourage bushier growth; also deadheading after flowering.

Medicinal Uses:
Used to cure everything from headaches to sunburns, the soothing scent of its oil relaxes the mind, while collagen regenerating agents in the plant renew your skin.

Growing Instructions:
Lavender seeds are best started indoors, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last killing frost. Start in peat pots, sowing 3 to 5 seeds per pot, at a shallow depth of 1/16” under topsoil. The seeds will require a bit of direct light to properly germinate, so try not to bury them deeper than the recommended depth. Transplant small pots into larger containers if necessary, or transplant directly into the garden, when the weather is warm and all danger of frost has passed. Lavender herbs will require an area of full sunlight for the majority of the day. Temperatures of at least 70F are recommended. A light soil that contains a small amount of gravel will best suit your Lavender plants, as they will need a well draining medium. They are fond of slightly acidic to slightly alkaline soils, with a pH of 6.5 to 7.0. Water the seeds daily with a spray bottle or mist setting, until germination has successfully occurred. Lavender seeds will typically germinate within 21 days after sowing. This strain will produce 30 inch plants, forming a compact, bush like growth habit. The plants can be spaced about 12 to 18 inches apart from one another.

DAYS TO GERMINATION: 14-21 days at 65–70°F (18–21°C).
LIGHT PREFERENCE: Sun.
SOIL REQUIREMENTS: Plant in a light, well-drained, gravelly soil. Lavender likes a protected, south-facing location. Soil that is slightly acidic to slightly alkaline is most desirable. If the soil pH falls below 6.5, the soil should be treated with lime to adjust the pH to no more than 8.3.
HARDINESS ZONES: 5-10
HARVEST: Harvest the flower spikes on a dry, warm, sunny day just as the flowers are about to open. Hang to dry in a dry, well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight.
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Lavandula angustifolia Ellagance Snow

Reliable scale, great for starting on a budget while still getting fairly solid results
This scale performs wonderfully and is very reliable. I will say the only issue I am having is that it seems to be very very touchy with not getting an exact weight reading and flickers a lot. I don't think this is really an issue as it might just be super sensitive. But for the price it's absolutely worth it

You Don't Really Need This, But...
This combination coffee scale and timer works exactly as advertised. It measures weights up to 2000 grams with 1/10 gram accuracy. The scale has three operating modes: espresso, pour over and manual. In espresso mode, the scale will automatically tare after a cup is placed on it then automatically start the count up timer and weigh incoming espresso as it starts to pour. In pour over mode, it will automatically tare after your cup/dripper/filter is in place. Then it weighs out the coffee dose as you add it. After you tare again manually, the timer and scale will start as you pour hot water. This allows you to let the saturated coffee grounds off gas for the desired number of seconds before continuing the pour. Manual mode is just that. You control the tare function and start the timer yourself. Battery capacity is great so USB charging will be infrequently required. Accessories include a short USB-A to USB-C cord and a clip-on silicone heat shield to protect the scale from hot espresso. Coffee spills are easy to cleanup and don't seem to have any ill effects on the scale itself. One gripe though: the weighing platform is only about 10 cm square so anything larger than a small coffee cup will block part of the digital displays. After all, the scale needs to fit inside an espresso machine. It isn't a full size kitchen scale. But really, do you need this device? If you want to be ultra precise in your coffee measurements, you love gadgets, or you revel in the coffee making ritual, the answer is certainly YES!

Scale programming and stabilizing
It took me a little time to figure out the different programming modes but now I know how to get quickly to the program I need for the coffee I brew. The scale is very sensitive and it takes a second until the scale stabilizes. All in all, I like it.

Precise, with super focused controls.
Color me impressed. I wanted to upgrade from an old Oster brand scale. It was a workhorse, and I still use it, but I prefer this Maestri House scale for coffee and tea. I compared them side-by-side, and their measurements are near identical. I've abused my old one, so I would imagine the M H to be more reliably calibrated, although the differences in readings while set to Grams was .01, so, for me, inconsequential, and may well have been user error as I had no control to measure them against. Here's what I like and prefer about the Maestri House S1: I love that it is rechargeable with readily available USB-C cords. I can take it with me, and not have to worry about swapping batteries. I love the silicone band that protects the platform. It is easy to clean, and doesn't seem to interfere with measurements. The scale is very sensitive. I could add or remove a literal pinch of ground coffee and it would register on the scale. The digital readout is bright enough to easily see. The controls could not be simpler: tap once to Tare, twice to change the unit of measurement. You can set it to liquid or dry ingredients as well. I also love that I can switch between grams and ounces without having to remeasure. Most scales do that these days, but I appreciate it. The timer is simple and easy to control--a very nice inclusion. Also, since the buttons are VERY sensitive, I barely have to touch them, so the scale stays perfectly still, and they work with wet hands. This device is focused, designed to be especially effective for making coffee or tea. It is compact, which makes it the perfect size for cups, mugs, filter baskets, etc. I wouldn't use it for baking or other kitchen tasks. Ok, I WOULD try to use it for that--I just wouldn't recommend it. It's too small for bowls and trays, because it wasn't designed for those. It is PERFECT for brewing and drink mixology. Also, I prefer to keep scales like these designated to weights under 5 pounds--let the Oster handle the big stuff. Overall, I think it's a fantastic little scale. I have had no reliability issues. Will it hold up over time? I think so. Plus, it looks great in my coffee corner. Satin black is kind of my theme. Happy brewing!
