Philodendron ‘Majesty’, a hybrid from tropical South American lineage, is a climbing philodendron known for its large, elongated leaves that emerge in deep burgundy to near-black tones before settling into a dark green with subtle red undertones. What makes this plant special is its dramatic, moody coloration and velvety sheen that gives it a bold, high-contrast, collector look as it matures and climbs.

Light drives both color depth and leaf size. Place it in an east or south-facing window where it gets bright, consistent light without direct sun sitting on the leaves. Under grow lights, use 5000K–6500K placed 10–12 inches from the top of the plant. In lower light, new leaves come in more green and smaller, and the plant will stretch between nodes. Strong light keeps the foliage darker, larger, and more compact.

Watering should stay balanced with good airflow at the roots. Allow the soil to partially dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly and let it drain, using a mix of succulent soil, perlite, and orchid bark. If new leaves emerge smaller with less of that deep tone, it is reacting to lower light, not lack of water. If the plant drops an older leaf when pushing new growth, that can be normal resource allocation. A sudden soft collapse at the base while the soil is wet points to root stress, while slow yellowing from the bottom usually signals the soil is staying too wet for too long.

Received giftcard money to replace my plan-protected malfunctioning motherboard
I've been subscribing to the Asurion protection plan for a while. Recently, an Asus Prime PC motherboard I had bought a few months ago on Amazon stopped working well. I ended up considering filing a claim with Asurion to see if they would either fix/replace it or issue the purchase price money, so I could buy the failed electronics replacement component again for my custom-built PC. I went to the protection plan's website and started the claim filing process but couldn't find the category my failed component would be under in order to select it from the drop-down list. I ended up messaging the live customer service. The chat messaging was somewhat slow, the agent told me they were experiencing some communication delays throughout their systems. Ultimately, the agent was very kind and understanding, and completed the claim filing process for me on her side by asking me to provide the necessary info such as the item's product name, date of purchase, price before taxes, etc. I received a printable UPS shipping label in the email, printed it, and returned the item in the mail. Approximately 2 days later, I received an Amazon giftcard code in the email with the dollar amount equal to the item's price before the sales tax. Then I redeemed the giftcard code on the Amazon page and proceeded to apply the giftcard money to my next purchase of a replacement Asus prime motherboard, and it all worked out successfully. Therefore, I had no issues with the protection plan service and recommend it to others.

The process was very smooth and fairly quick. The only challenge I had was that the CLAIM status showed complete but I had to manually go look up the status. There was no email or notification it was closed. After manually checking the status, I called customer support and they said since I called in, they would process the payout. I wonder if I didnt call in if they would have processed it? After a sever thunderstorm took out my cable modem, It was nice to be assured I had replacement coverage for it. Filing the claim was effortless and the process to return the item was no issue at all. My only concern is that the cable modem is a CRITICAL piece of equipment for any individual or business. A sense of urgency on the behalf of Asurion to recognize this and expedite the replacement process would have been appreciated. No technician repairs these modems. Always cheaper to replace, especially one that the failure was attributed to an electrical storm.
