Anthurium clarinervium

Anthurium clarinervium has thick, heart-shaped leaves with pale vein outlines. The leaf surface is matte to slightly velvety, and the blades feel firm and thick. It forms a low crown, with new leaves coming from the centre of the plant.

It comes from Chiapas, Mexico, where it grows around limestone outcrops and can root among rocks in thin, well-drained soils. In a pot, the roots do best with structure, air and warmth, along with regular watering.

Mature leaves usually stay compact, around 11–25.5 cm long. Established plants can send up Anthurium spathes and spadices; indoors, the thick veined leaves are usually more noticeable than the flowers.

Leaves, veins and growth habit

  • Growth habit: Compact, crown-forming Anthurium.
  • Leaves: Thick, heart-shaped blades with deep basal lobes.
  • Mature size: Mature leaves usually stay around 11–25.5 cm long.
  • Texture: Matte dark green surface with a firm feel.
  • Venation: Pale white to greenish-white vein outlines across the blade.

Anthurium clarinervium root-zone care

  • Light: Give it bright, filtered light.
  • Watering: Let the upper part of the mix dry before watering again.
  • Moisture balance: Let air return to the mix between waterings, but water before the plant dries hard.
  • Substrate: Use a coarse, well-draining mix with bark and pumice or perlite.
  • Temperature: Keep warm, ideally between 18–28 °C.
  • Root zone: Warm roots and a structured mix support steady growth between waterings.
  • Humidity: Moderate to high humidity helps new leaves expand cleanly.
  • Airflow: Gentle airflow helps the crown and substrate dry evenly.
  • Feeding: Feed lightly and flush the mix occasionally if salts build up.
  • Repotting: Repot before the mix becomes compacted or stale.

Leaf and root issues

  • Yellowing leaves: Often indicates dense, wet substrate or cold roots.
  • Brown margins: Can follow dry air, irregular watering or salt buildup.
  • Pale or marked patches: Often develop after exposure to direct sun.
  • Distorted new leaves: Check for pests or unstable conditions during leaf expansion.
  • Soft base or sour-smelling mix: Inspect the roots straight away.

Plant safety

Keep Anthurium clarinervium away from pets and children. Plant material contains calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth and throat if ingested, and sap may irritate skin or eyes.

Why it is called Anthurium clarinervium

The genus Anthurium refers to the flower and its tail-like spadix. The epithet clarinervium means “clearly veined”, matching the pale vein pattern on the leaves.

Not as good as pure copper, but maybe good enough
Size: 14AWG-50FT, Size: 14AWG-50FT
This wire is copper-clad aluminum, which means you sacrifice some conductivity for a for a less expensive conductor. This wire is very lightly clad with copper - the thinness of the copper coating is obvious from a casual observation (see image). I measured 4-wire resistance across the entire length (50') of wire - it comes out to 0.34 ohms on each lead. This is a bit less than double what you'd expect from an equivalent length of the same gauge of multistrand copper, so if you're planning on running a long length of this it might be prudent to pretend that you're working with a slightly smaller gauge than you actually are. That is exactly the approach I'm taking with it, and it works well for me within that context.

Great speaker wire
Size: 14AWG-50FT
I ordered this speaker wire to replace my speakers in my car. I highly appreciated that there are 50' included on this spool, it's perfect for rewiring the stereo speakers in a car (or house). The wire appears to be made well and is the correct gauge. The sound quality is great with my new speakers, and I am highly impressed. I recommend this speaker wire to others, it's exactly what I needed and has met my expectations for high quality speaker wire.

Higher resistance than expected
Size: 14AWG-50FT, Size: 14AWG-50FT
I like Nilight products, I really do, but this one isn’t as good as it could be. After reading other reviews I wanted to take a different test approach and measure the resistance of the whole roll. I thought this might explain the low rating of 5.6A at 12V. I believe my test explains this rating. First, you need to make sure you understand that this is copper clad aluminum. It is clear in the ad title but make sure you are good with that. The test consisted of me removing the entire 50 feet of wire from the spool to reach the other end. I then stripped back the end and tied the two together securely. Only soldering would have produced a more complete contact. I then tested the resistance of the roll with an Agilent U251B multimeter which gave the reading in the pic of .75ohms. That’s not much but compared to what I found on several charts that was high. The average resistance of 14 gauge 41 strand copper wire should be 2.63ohms per 1000 feet or .1315 per 50 feet. The wire tested 5.7 times greater resistance. Obviously aluminum will test with more resistance than pure copper but I was unable to find what those values should be. The insulation is thick and durable so abrasion wear shouldn’t be an issue if routed properly. The wire may still be great for your application but if you are considering pushing this wire to the load limit you may want to upsize to 12 gauge.

Best lights you can get for the best pricing!
Color: 5in Round LED Pod, Color: 5in Round LED Pod
I have had man different off road lights over the years for many different vehicles. Let me tell you about these 5” aux beams. I ordered these lights to go on my 2500 as ditch lights and I am beyond impressed! The lights showed up well packaged. When opening the box, the instructions where right on top and by far one if the easiest sets of instructions I’ve had for wiring diagrams. The lights were packaged and wrapped in foam all the way around to protect them from shipping. The wrapping of the lenses for scratch prevention was perfect. The included wiring harness was packed in a bag and laid out very easily for installation. The harness hooked to the battery and then to the lights with easy quick connects and had more than enough length to put the lights anywhere. Once they were mounted and installed I hooked them up to my aux beams switch panel with ease. Now for the lights! The brightness is beyond bright enough to see miles away! These lights will shine anything you could ever want to see. The spot flood combo work exceptionally well for all situations and darkness. The side shooter stretch them beam out to the sites and can see all the way across. The running lights tie in very easy with your turn signals for extra turn lights or running lights. Heavy duty is an understatement for the quality of these lights. I’m still running them after several months with no water intrusion and still as bright as the day I installed them. The price for what you get, is far beyond better than other top brands! I will be buying more of these for my next off roading set up!

Too big for a tiger, but works well on the fiddy
Color: 4*2.5in Cube LED Pod
Not as bright as the graph says they are, or maybe I'm not in a dark enough area at night. But they definitely are blinding. Were too big for my adv bike unfortunately, but they work good on my truck as ditch lights. Not too bulky looking like the cubes are and no wind noise that I can hear. Definitely lights up the wma trails and the side shooters are very helpful. I will note though that as soon as your hood gets dusty it becomes blinding from the inside side shooters though. so I painted the yellow lens cover on the inside sides and it helps a lot with the hood glare.
