Gomphrena haageana 'Strawberry Fields' Globe Amaranth 'Strawberry Fields'

Dozens of clover-like globe-shaped flowers in an intense glowing shade of strawberry-red, flecked with tiny yellow stars, on tall bushy plants that thrive in the hottest driest summers and dry to preserve their vibrant colour for years — Gomphrena 'Strawberry Fields' is the RHS Award of Garden Merit everlasting flower that breaks the muted-pastel mould of traditional dried flowers.

While many "everlasting" flowers come in muted shades of straw or pastel, 'Strawberry Fields' breaks that mould. Dozens of clover-like globe-shaped flowers in an intense glowing strawberry-red, flecked with tiny yellow stars at the centres, on tall bushy plants reaching 60–75cm. These flowers are nature's endurance athletes — they thrive in the hottest driest summers, blooming relentlessly until the frost. Because the petals are actually papery bracts, they feel dry even when growing in the garden. This means they preserve perfectly, holding that vibrant red colour for years in a dried arrangement, making them the ultimate pop of colour for Christmas wreaths and winter vases. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit — recognised for vigour, health and consistent flowering through to first frosts. Half-hardy annual.

A note on growing

Gomphrena requires consistent warmth and a period of darkness to germinate successfully — both points often missed and both important. Sow indoors from March to April. Sow seeds into module trays and cover with compost or vermiculite, as the seeds require darkness to germinate. Cover the tray with cardboard or black plastic during the germination phase. Keep very warm (20–25°C); seedlings typically emerge in 14–21 days. Remove cover once seedlings appear and grow on in bright conditions.

Plant out only in June once all risk of frost has passed — Gomphrena is half-hardy and absolutely sensitive to cold. Plant in full sun in light, well-drained, sandy soil. Gomphrena is exceptionally drought-tolerant once established but strongly dislikes heavy wet ground. Originating from sun-drenched Central America, it is a dedicated heat-seeker that performs best in the hottest, sunniest position you can offer.

Harvesting for dried use: cut stems when the globes have fully developed their colour. Hang upside-down in small bunches in a warm dry dark place to preserve the strawberry-red. Dried Gomphrena holds its colour for years and provides one of the few genuinely vivid red dried flowers available.

Where it shines

In the cutting garden as one of the most reliable and most vividly-coloured dried flowers — 'Strawberry Fields' is essential in any everlasting arrangement that wants warm colour rather than muted neutrals. In cottage borders for late-summer warm-toned colour through August and September. In gravel gardens and Mediterranean-style plantings where the heat-tolerance suits the conditions. In Christmas wreaths and winter dried arrangements where the strawberry-red holds far better than most preserved flowers. As a "season finisher" plant — Gomphrena flowers right through to the first frosts when most other annuals are winding down.

Plant alongside

For a coordinated dried-flower harvest, plant Gomphrena alongside Bunny Tails (soft cream contrast to the hard red globes), Bupleurum 'Griffithii' (lime-green lifter), Briza Maxima (airy quaking grass) and Statice — together they create a complete everlasting cutting garden. For garden display, the warm strawberry-red pairs beautifully with Calendula 'Touch of Red' and Cosmos 'Apricotta' for a sunset-tone late-summer scheme.

Really good pillow!
Size: King (Pack of 1)
This is the first pillow that I have owned in the last 10 years in which I have not experienced any neck pain. It's the right density, comfort level, and is a high-quality item. I am a side and stomach sleeper. Try this pillow and I think you'll be happy.

OMG I finally found the one
Color: White, Size: Standard
I use to have a pillow that I took it everywhere. It finally was gone I couldn’t find one that I had. So my quest for the perfect pillow was 17 different pillows. I finally found the one!!! This pillow is soft but is sturdy. My head lays on the pillow and doesn’t fall to the bed. My neck isn’t tilted in an awkward position. The coolness of the pillow is amazing. This pillow is everything I was looking for. The price is 100% worth it. Edit ok I still love the pillow but you have to flip it because all the stuffing moves to the other side. The pillow still has enough that it was still comfortable. I wish that the stuffing would stay in the same pot.

Nice Pillow
Color: White, Size: King
I waited a few weeks before writing this review. It’s very difficult to find Info on this pillow but here’s my take on it. Height: It’s a nice height on the pillow. It has a 2” gusset which upon my research is a way to keep the inside foam and down at least 2” high. Types of sleeping: I find this pillow to be comfortable in all sleep positions. I do find that because it’s not full foam that you don’t get that full compression feeling so back sleep is not as comfortable to me as other pillows I’ve used but still very comfortable Back: Has enough height that my neck is supported. It’s not full foam so you will have to adjust your head position so it fits perfectly into the curve of the pillow for best support. Side: Thick enough that the compatibility with my mattress sink allows my body to be comfortably aligned. I have a medium hybrid tempurpedic luxe breeze. Stomach: Just barely thick enough to be comfortable. I sleep somewhat weird and like my arm to go under the pillow. This gives me the correct height for stomach sleeping if I put my head on the bottom part of the pillow. This also allows me to breathe lol. Cooling This pillow has awesome cooling. Even when I wake up the pillow is still ice cold. Never had this feeling before and I’m a hot sleeper so i really like this. Granted I do set my house temperature to like 73 to sleep. The sensor is right next to my bed so it’s a true 73. Material This has foam outer layers and a fiber fill. It really does feel unique and it’s comfy. It’s a decently heavy pillow too in king so that gives confidence there is good quality foam and materials in it. One thing to know, the cover is “slippery” and it took some getting used to, even though I use a pillow case I can feel it slides in the case more than other pillows. I think it’s because the cover is very thing to promote airflow and heat transfer. I wish it was adjustable for the price. Price I like the pillow, and got mine on sale. But I do think it’s a bit overpriced for what it is. Evidently the sale price I got wasn’t a good price and it’s gone as much as 20% off. Oh well.

Great Cooling, But Lacking Support
Color: White, Size: Standard
I have to agree with some of the other reviews—this pillow just doesn't offer enough support. It initially feels plush and inviting, but after a minute or so, your head sinks too far and ends up pressing against the underlying latex, which has a rubbery, somewhat uncomfortable feel. It might be an excellent fit for those with smaller frames, but for me, it fell short in terms of proper neck and head support. On the plus side, the cooling aspect is impressive. It's cool to the touch and noticeably more breathable than many pillows I've tried. I've seen some complaints about it not staying cool all night, but honestly, no pillow really does. Casper's claim of "12 hours of cooling" seems like marketing optimism—your body heat will eventually warm up any pillow, no matter how well-designed. That’s just basic thermodynamics. All in all, it's a well-made pillow with excellent cooling performance. If you have a smaller frame, this could be a great choice. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for my needs.
