Lavandula x intermedia 'Provence'

Herb Growing Tips

Light:  Full sun-lavenders

Temperature:  Hardiness Zones 5-9

Watering: Like most Lavenders, 'Provence' is drought tolerant and doesn't need much water. Over watering is one of the biggest mistakes made with this plant, as they are easily susceptible to root rot or disease if they remain moist for too long. well but allow to dry between watering. Once established, lavenders will not require a lot of water.

Soil: This is the most important factor in success - your soil must be loose and drains well - you can always add a bit of sand or cactus soil to the mix but if you grab a handful of soil, squeeze it and it remains a tight ball, it's not going to drain!

Comments:  Good circulation is vital as lavenders cannot tolerate damp and humid conditions. They need a lot of room to grow and they need a lot of air moving around them to avoid excess moisture which will lead to rot. Lavender  is a must have and easy to grow. We have created a wonderful blog on 'How To Grow Lavenders Successfully'!

Herb Description

Lavender 'Provence', a wonderfully fragrant herb, grows quickly and produces buds that are easily removed for potpourri making . This aromatic herb is a Lavadin, or English Lavender Hybrid. As an ornamental herb, it blooms profusely, smells great and grows larger and faster than many others. Considered one of the more "rugged" varieties, 'Provence' is drought tolerant and does not need much water to thrive.

A wonderfully soothing scent, Provence Lavender is used in many candles, cosmetics, perfumes and Aromatherapy products. This particular variety is named for the Provence region in France, where the majority of Lavender supply and production come from.

Deer resistant and low maintenance once it is established, 'Provence' makes a great edge plant for a garden. Quick to grow, this variety of Lavender fills out nicely, providing ample blooms to attract beneficial pollinators to your garden. Similar to 'Hidcote' Lavender in terms of habit and care, yet because it is a hybrid, 'Provence' will produce either sterile or no seed at all, so propagation must be done by cuttings.

Important Provence Lavender Tips:

  • Well drained soil - lavenders will not tolerate poor drainage so add sand if you need to improve the quality of your soil. Most lavender 'deaths' occur because of wet roots. An alkaline soil is best.
  • They cannot tolerate humidity: damp, still air makes them susceptible to fungus ailments
  • Lavenders need full sun- 6 to 8 hours of sunshine for these Mediterranean natives

Stride Rite is Supreme
Size: 8 Toddler, Color: Tan
I have always loved the Stride Rite quality! The shoes are extremely durable. They’re very attractive and easy to dress up or down so that I don’t have to keep five pairs of shoes on hand at all times. The sole is nice and thick and it accommodates wide or regular feet. I love that they use Velcro, which makes it easy to put on. It gives my daughter plenty of cushion when she’s playing outside.

Darling Shoe
Size: 7 Toddler, Color: White
I’ve always been skeptical about purchasing online due to the fact that I’m the kind of person that needs to touch/feel, try out the product. However, when I saw these plus, coming from a brand that I trust, I decided to give them a try. Oh I’m so glad I did! These shoes are just darling! What makes it even better is the comfort. My 2 year old loves her shoes and will wear them around the house just because. She’s a size 7 and that’s what I got for her and the shoe fit is true to size. The cut outs are perfect! I’ve purchased other shoes where the cut outs aren’t as great, hence the hesitation on buying these. I definitely recommend they are a 10/10! On everything even presentation but comfort is what’s important!

You can never go wrong with stride rite. Love that you can take the inserts out for a little more space. My kid has been able to wear these for kindergarten and first grade.

Cute
Size: 9 Toddler, Color: Tan
Cute and great option for preschool that requires more tennis style shoes. Love the strap is longer and can be trimmed down. Seems to have nice support and daughter can easily put them on and off herself. Only downside is the the tan area scuffs pretty easily. We purchased a different pair last year (same brand and looks very similar) and they held up from scuffing better.

Beautiful shoes
Size: 7 Toddler, Color: Tan, Size: 7 Toddler, Color: Tan
Beautiful dressy shoes! I used to get another version of these for size 6 when my daughter was younger, now she’s getting into size 7, I got her a pair of these. They look great on her and she loves them. Hope they will last a while. The size 6 we had were very worn because she loves them so much that she would pick them over all her other shoes.
