Alocasia Sumo Elephant Ear is a heavyweight champion of the tropical garden, a vigorous, fast-growing hybrid that can reach 6–10 ft. tall with leaves measuring up to 3–4 ft. long. The enormous, upward-pointing dark green leaves are carried on dramatic reddish-black stems and display light green undersides with purple veining, creating a two-toned tropical spectacle unlike anything else in the landscape.

  • Massive upward-pointing leaves up to 3–4 ft. long on reddish-black stems
  • Reaches 6–10 ft. tall, one of the largest elephant ears you can grow
  • Light green leaf undersides with purple veins create striking contrast
  • Incredibly fast-growing, can reach 5–6 ft. in its first season
  • Hardy in Zones 7–11; exceptional in large containers on patios and decks
  • Stunning focal point for tropical, jungle, and poolside garden designs
  • A Monrovia selection, bred and grown for superior performance

Plant Alocasia Sumo in consistently moist, rich, well-draining soil with full to part sun, provide at least 3–6 hours of bright light daily to fuel its extraordinary growth. This hungry, fast grower benefits from monthly feeding with a balanced organic fertilizer during the growing season. In Zones 6 and below, lift the rhizome in fall and overwinter in a frost-free location, or grow in a large container year-round. Please note: contains calcium oxalate crystals; toxic to pets and children. Go big or go home, add Alocasia Sumo to your tropical garden today!

Compact, stretches over loads, wish it had a bag.
Size: Doube Layer
I am giving the double layer netted version of this product, for my uses, a 5 star, though there are two negatives to consider up front. 1. There is no storage bag included. 2. And the 6 caribeaners included are too cheezie to trust. Yes, the caribeaners will hold the net, and I assume your heavy loads will be strapped down before netting it. So I did install them in the straps just because. Bur I'll be putting the thick straps around the edge over bed hooks. I can't speak on how the single layer net would work, but you really will think after getting the double layer, that was the right choice. The mesh is tightly made and should hold even the messiness bag of trash in your truck bed from blowing out if you get the double layer. When you stretch the net out, it does act like a membrane, so you need several hooks around your bed or trailer. It stretched tightly around 5.5 x 7.5 1975 Datson pickup bed trailer. As you remember these beds have hooks all the way around and a curled lip surrounding the top. So this is perfect for full edge coverage. But if you have few hooks, the net will pull inward between the points lile a membrane would. If you need a stiff heavy duty throw over style net, this is not it. After hooked down, there is a great amount of stretch to cover good sized loads. This net is also excellent for containing a tarp covered load, keeping the tarp from coming loose and flapping around in the wind which is always a challenge on long trips. Also it will help contain brush and trash so that ENCON won't ticket you for uncovered loads. Light weight, easy to use, and it should hold up well for the price. Use one of those left over Ryobe tool bags you have laying around, and some better dollar-store caribeaners, and you'll be ser!

Used this while moving several bins in the bed of the truck for several hundred miles. Held everything well with no rips or tears. Will keep for toting around camping supplies.
