Description

A rare variety of Sansevieria from East Africa, coveted for its distinctly coppery colouring. Named in honour of Sir John Kirk, the 19th-century Scottish naturalist and explorer who collected plants in Zanzibar alongside David Livingstone. Foliage is broad, thick, ridged and strap-shaped. Each leaf tapers to a sharp point and is edged in contrasting red. Leaf surfaces are mottled and subtly banded with striations or swatches of colour. Leaves emerge in burnished bronze and mature into a rich olive and muddy-green, mottled with irregular silver flecking. Slow-growing. Angular offsets eventually mature into a dense, clumping colony that measures up to  1.5-2' Ø and 2-3' h under ideal conditions. Best suited to any small tabletop planter by Bergs Potter. Prefers bright indirect to filtered sunlight, tolerates lower light. May scorch in direct sun.
