Philodendron hederaceum 'Micans' is an elegant houseplant prized for its velvety leaves and dark green foliage with bronze undertones. It adds a touch of sophistication and softness to any indoor space, thanks to its leaves that capture the light in a subtle and delicate way.

Origin: Philodendron hederaceum is native to the tropical forests of Central and South America, where it often grows as a climbing plant.

Growth: Philodendron 'Micans' is a fast to moderate grower, with trailing or climbing stems that can reach several meters in length. Its heart-shaped leaves are about 5 to 10 cm long and have a soft, velvety texture, with hues ranging from dark green to coppery bronze.

Flowers: Rarely produces flowers when grown indoors. Flowers, when they appear, are small and insignificant compared to the beauty of the foliage.

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Exposure to too much light can burn delicate leaves, while low light slows growth, but it tolerates moderate light conditions.

Watering: Requires moderate watering. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Be careful not to overwater to avoid root rot.

Substrate: Use a well-draining potting soil rich in organic matter. A mix of houseplant potting soil with perlite or peat moss is ideal for promoting drainage while retaining moisture.

Toxicity: Philodendron hederaceum 'Micans' is toxic if ingested, especially to pets. It is recommended to keep it out of reach of pets and children.

Fantastic book to validate and inspire parents!
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I just finished reading this with my book club and it is superb! Researched, practical, and written by a mother and educator with a wealth of experience. This is the mentor you wish lived in your neighborhood or taught at your school! One of the best parenting books I've read and I love growth and strengths mindset of this book. If you get a chance, listen to her on a podcast or video because she is a dynamic speaker and very inspiring!

Spreading wisdom
Format: Paperback
Of course my kids delivered a disappointed ‘Thanks’ when opening the gift. I listened on audio and knew I couldn’t remember to pass on the interesting facts and ideas that I learned, so I bought the books as gifts. Some ideas are old and some are new. Overall a great read.

Good enough, good points
Format: Hardcover
Definitely a book that makes a lot of good points. It's very repetitive though. And lots of it is common sense. If you want to learn why your children are overwhelmed, it definitely explains why

ESSENTIAL for all parents and educators to read
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
As an elementary educator for the last fifteen years, I finally found a book that put all the frustration and wondering of why kids come to school struggling, drained, and overwhelmed. Borba states, "We are creating strivers, not thinkers, produced to be test-takers while missing the opportunity to be people." She points out that we are all running on empty. In her book, she discusses the 7 core strengths that kids need in order to shine. Thrivers not only provides readers with current research, but it has practical and easy tips that both parents and educators can do to help foster a new generation of thrivers and not strivers. If you are worried about your children's mental health, depression, anxiety, and stress, you must read this book. This book comes at a time when we all must work together to move the pendulum of what achievement looks like in 2021 and reimagine education for our youth, tweens, teens, and young adults. Truly, this book has been life-changing.
