🌿 Bulk Damiana Herb, Cut & Sifted (Turnera diffusa)
Our bulk Damiana is the cut and sifted leaf of Turnera diffusa, the warm, aromatic herb that herbalists, tea brewers, and apothecaries have prized for generations. The flavor is full and characterful: a deep, savory base reminiscent of squid ink, a green alfalfa heart, and a bright lift of orange. The uniform cut and sift strains cleanly in a press or infuser and measures easily into tinctures and loose blends.
Damiana is native to Mexico and the sun-soaked scrublands of the South, the hot, dry conditions it evolved in and grows best within. We source ours from a vetted partner farm right there in Mexico, where the plant flourishes, grown to the same soil-first, biological standard that defines our own Colorado farm. Every lot we ship receives the same per-batch lab work and the same 100% money-back guarantee as everything we carry.
We farm and source the way we do because we believe healthier soil grows more complex, more potent plants. That conviction is measurable on our own ground: our Colorado farm earned a groundbreaking Haney Soil Health Score of 25.4, a number that surpasses the soil biology found in pristine forest land. You can read more about the science of our growing practices and how regenerative farming shapes herb potency.
Transparency is the rest of the promise. Every lot of our Damiana is COA-verified, per lot, with independent lab work confirming purity, potency, and a clean profile, so you can buy the exact batch you receive with confidence.
Damiana carries a rich story. Valued since the era of the ancient Maya and woven through Mexican and southwestern folk tradition, it has long been enjoyed as a warming, mood-lifting tonic herb and a fragrant addition to teas and cordials. For the full history, explore Damiana: The Sultry Sage of the South.
🌿 Ways to Enjoy Our Damiana
Steep one to two teaspoons per cup for a savory, citrus-bright cup, lovely on its own or blended with mint, rose, or hibiscus.
The even cut and sift extracts cleanly in alcohol or glycerin and folds smoothly into traditional cordials and herbal liqueurs.
A classic component of warming folk-tonic and aromatic herbal blends across Mexico and the Southwest.

Safe Use & Good Practice
Damiana has a long record of culinary and tea use and is generally well tolerated as a beverage herb. A few sensible notes: it is best avoided during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Because it may influence blood sugar, anyone managing blood sugar or taking related medication should speak with a qualified practitioner first, and pause use before any scheduled surgery. As with any new herb, start with a modest amount and see how you respond.

Consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a medical condition.
Sacred Plant Co is a soil-first farm. Our own farm in Colorado earned a groundbreaking Haney Soil Health Score of 25.4, a number that surpasses the soil biology measured in pristine forest land. That score is the heart of who we are. We believe healthier soil grows more complex, more potent plants, and that philosophy is the reason we hold every herb we carry to the same biological and per-lot testing standards.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I brew damiana as a tea?
We reach for about one to two teaspoons of the cut and sifted leaf per cup, steeped in just-off-boil water for 10 to 15 minutes, then strained. The flavor is earthy and savory with a bright orange lift, so many of our customers blend it with mint, rose, or a touch of honey. Because it is cut and sifted rather than powdered, it strains cleanly and works just as well in a press or infuser.
Is this damiana grown on your Colorado farm?
This Damiana comes from a vetted partner farm in Mexico, the sun-soaked region where Turnera diffusa is native and grows at its best. We hold that partner to the same soil-first, biological standard that defines our own Colorado farm, and every lot we ship receives the same per-batch lab work and the same 100% money-back guarantee as everything we carry.
What does damiana taste like, and what can I blend it with?
Damiana carries a deep, savory base reminiscent of squid ink, a green alfalfa heart, and a bright note of orange. That savory-citrus character makes it a natural partner for spearmint, hibiscus, rose petals, or vanilla, and it folds beautifully into both hot infusions and chilled blends.
Can I use this damiana in tinctures and herbal blends?
Yes. Our cut and sifted Damiana is well suited to alcohol or glycerin tinctures, traditional cordials, and loose herbal blends, and its uniform cut makes for even extraction and easy measuring. It has been valued in Mexican and southwestern folk traditions for generations as a warming, mood-lifting tonic herb.
