ABOUT OUR SCINDAPSUS PICTUS

Hello, I’m Marble! I’m quite a thing of beauty, wouldn’t you agree? Although my silvery toned foliage looks hard to handle, I can confirm I’m much easier to care for than you might think. Take my names for example, they’re simple and straight to the point: silver pothos, satin pothos and silver vine, which describe me down to a T. There’s no fuss when it comes to me - only pure silvery joy.

I hail from countries far and wide but mostly you can find me in the subtropics of Asia and Polynesia. I love warm temperatures and the filtered sun I receive from deep in the rainforests helps to protect my lovely variegated foliage from burning. I’m a fast-growing vine and will climb and attach myself to any surface I find. If my long luscious foliage grows out of control, you can cut my vines back and make another plant out of my cuttings - yay, mini Marbles!

Allow my climbing vines to do all the hard work in making your home or office sparkle as I make my way up the moss pole planted in my pot. I’m certain my silvery shine will be a spectacular addition to your indoor jungle.

Small height (including nursery pot) 45-55cm; pot diameter 15cm.

Big height (including nursery pot) 70-75cm; pot diameter 17cm.

DID YOU KNOW?

Marble’s variegation (the pretty silver pattern on her leaves) is caused by lots of bright, indirect sunlight. While she is low-light tolerant, if placed in a low lit room, some of her variation will fade.

Marble is sure to unfurl new foliage at a rate of knots. She’ll soon by climbing all the way up her moss pole and delighting you with her exquisite leaves.

QUICK SCINDAPSUS PICTUS CARE

A perfect beginner houseplant that will continue to grow beautiful, climbing vines.

LIGHTING

I can cope with most light, although direct bright sunlight can burn my patterned leaves.

WATERING

Keep my soil on the drier side and never let my soil get too soggy.

HUMIDITY

I tolerate lower levels of humidity but I much prefer higher levels of moisture in the air.

FERTILISER

Use a fertiliser once a month in the growth season. Don’t fertilise me in the winter months.

THINGS WE ALWAYS GET ASKED

How do you take care of a Scindapsus Pictus?

The Scindapsus pictus is very easy to look after and will thrive in the majority of indoor environments. She’s a tropical plant and prefers warmer temperatures of above 20°C but you’ll know if she’s unhappy as her leaves will begin to curl if she’s stressed from the cold.

Keep Marble in a place full of light but nothing direct that will burn her leaves. Any low lighting could cause her to lose some variegation, but she will still survive - if look a little less beautiful. To avoid any crisp leaves, keep Marble’s environment humid by placing her in the bathroom or by a humidifier.

Why are my Scindapsus pictus leaves curling?

Marble will start to curl her leaves to let you know that she is a little thirsty. A thorough drink will help her leaves return back to their original state. It’s also good to check Marble’s environment and make sure she isn’t placed near a chilly window or frequently used door as she can curl her leaves if stressed from the cold.

Do Satin Pothos like humidity?

Yes; because she’s native to the rainforest, Marble prefers higher levels of humidity. Normal household humidity is usually between 30% and 40% but Marble prefers humidity levels of over 50%. To increase the humidity in your home, you can use a humidifier or try a pebble tray underneath her pot.

PLANT STYLING TIPS

Marble’s upward vines will look magnificent in any bright bathroom. She also boasts the perfect figure thanks to her moss pole, which means she can be added to the hallway or landing and won’t get in the way or take up any precious space.

A superb addition to the Marvel Darth Vader canon
Format: Paperback
An almost perfect run of comic books, focused around the Imperial assault on Mon Cala post-Episode III. Many familiar faces are here: Vader, of course; Tarkin; Ackbar; Palpatine; Rogue One’s Admiral Raddus; and many more, including Sith, Jedi, and clones (there’s a nice nod to Order 66). Charles Soule deftly weaves an intriguing narrative, fast-paced but also with plenty of depth. The art is also excellent. In addition to the main stretch of the story, the trade also contains the Darth Vader annual, an outstanding Rogue One story that caps things off nicely. Highly recommended reading for Star Wars fans.

Good for Darth vader fans.
Format: Paperback
This book was amazing. I prefribly like vol.4 more than vol.3. The writers of this book have outdone themselves again, another one of Vaders archaic stories and the book was in perfect condition. I highly recommend it.

Charles Soule's Series Continues to Impress and is Arguably the Best of Marvel's New Canon
Format: Paperback
Darth Vader leads the invasion of Mon Cala. With the Empire tightening its grip across the galaxy, Vader is dispatched by his master to the aquatic world of Mon Cala to track down a rogue Jedi who may be advising the planet's king. With the Inquisitors in tow, Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin face off with one of the first open acts of rebellion in their new Empire. Soule is at his absolute best with this series as he continues to explore a version of Vader haunted by his own inner goodness and memories of the past (the book does contain some references to events of the Clone Wars television show, but you don't need to have seen it to grasp the story). Likewise, his exploration of the seduction of the dark side is fantastic with a new Jedi target willing to use deception and war in order to light the sparks of a future rebellion. The final issue of the book may be one of the best Star Wars comics of the entire new canon with Tarkin hunting Vader for sport (on the latter's request oddly enough) across a desolate and hostile planet. The issue isn't what one expects but makes a great deal of sense when exploring the relationship between these two characters (while also explaining why Vader is so deferential to Tarkin during A New Hope). The final addition is a decent annual that sees Vader investigating the Death Star and sabotage of its construction. The annual isn't the best addition to the series (the artwork isn't up to the standards of the rest of the series), but it does introduce some intriguing ideas about Tarkin and Vader's relationship and the events that set up the Rogue One movie.
