Drosera rotundifolia or Roundleaf Sundew is aptly named. Its round traps are lime green with long red sticky tentacles. It is of medium height, and prefers growing in and among sphagnum moss, where it keeps up with the fast growth of the moss. It does well growing with other bog plants, where it receives mottled sunlight. It does not tolerate temperatures over 85°F very well. It emerges late in the Spring and lasts throughout the Fall. It forms a hairless winter hibernacula (resting bud), if temperatures drop below 40°F (4°C), which is best pushed down to the surface in early Spring for best growth. The small flowers are white with occasional pink veins on scapes with multiple blossoms. It flowers from June to September. It frequently produce abundant seeds, giving it a nice spreading habitat. Roundleaf Sundew seeds need to be stratified (cold, damp winter storage). It is wide-spread in its range through North America and Europe. Drosera rotundifolia is probably the most studied of all the Drosera. Charles Darwin experimented most with the carnivorous habit of this plant than with Dionaea. It is a nice plant for a terrarium, the collection or growing in the bog garden. This selection comes from seed, and will show some natural variations.

All our Drosera rotundifolia seeds for sale are fresh harvested in the Fall, and stored refrigerated. Seed count is approximate, but reliable.

Note: Stratification is required to prepare seeds for germination. We recommend using our Stratification Sand. All seeds are produced from open pollination within our collection. Some cross pollination among different cultivars may occur. Growing carnivorous plants from seeds is best suited for the experienced and patient grower. See our webpage on Growing CPs from Seeds.

Great ball but easily broken
Size: Large
I got this ball for my two dogs, one is a 90 pound yellow lab mix and the other 45 pound black lab mix. So far only my bigger dog has played with it and has also busted it. He was playing with it for probably half an hour just chomping down to make it crinkle and crunch. It's quite the loud ball!! I noticed the sound wasn't as loud so I took a peek and noticed my dog basically crushed the inner ball into a much smaller ball. He's still having a good time with it though. It's only a matter of time though that he's going to chew the outer shell because it doesn't make noise like it did.

Dogs go for this ball every time
Size: Large, Size: Large
My Boston's and Rotti love this ball. I had to get two more. It's great for the Boston's because they can grasp it with the way it's made with the softer rubber. They love the crackle sound. It's just the right size and weight for smaller like the Boston Terrier and Rotti. Easy cleaning, rinses right off.

It's a Hit a Our House!
Size: Large
My strong chewer is still ..... Well, going strong! He loves his new crackle ball. He enjoys the new sound, the bounce back feeling in his jaws when chews. Mom is happy that pup hasn't put a dent in the toy yet! Price was more than reasonable too. We give it 5 Paws Up!
