The pineapple fruit consists of a tightly fused cluster of individual berries and the stem of the flower head. At least from a botanical perspective, it is therefore a so-called berry-like fruit complex. The hard, fibrous "rind" of the pineapple fruit is made up of the sepals and petals of the former flowers.

If you want to cultivate and harvest your own pineapples, you'll need plenty of warmth and a bit of patience, especially during fruit ripening. Even small plants can flower and produce fruit, though these will naturally be significantly smaller than those you'd find in stores. Nevertheless, they emit an intense pineapple fragrance as they ripen! Like most other bromeliads, they produce pups after flowering/fruiting, and the previous growing point dies or is replaced by the pups, which then grow, flower, and repeat the cycle.



You will receive a strong plant in a 14cm pot with fruit set. To ensure the fruit ripens properly, always keep it above 21°C!
